If you don't know much about military abeg stay away it a different thing when it comes with a national appointment or the military see you as an asset to them you can stay more than the 35yrs if you are less than 60yrs of age at the same time once you are 60yrs and above as a commission officer you are to go on a compulsory retirement due to age even if you have only serve for 30yrs or less.
So to you, buratai was an asset to the army?

Op,your caption doesn't make grammatical sense; it's quite confusing! You could have written it simply thus: Nigeria Army Retires 29 Generals.

We thank all the retired Generals for serving Nigeria dutifully and wish them success in all their future endeavors.

Buratai served 40 years in the army. This is against the army terms of service and he is not ordered to refund the salaries and allowances he received for the 5 years that was added to his 35years of mandatory service.

Buratai didn't serve up to 40yeas pls ...his CDS then Gen olonishakin served for 40 plus years not buratai...buratai served for 36 or 37 years

Army use the military language "Pulling Out".

Serving officers "literally pull" the military wagon in which the retiring senior officers parade for the last time. With ropes attached to both sides in front of the wagon. Of course, not really with manpower but symbolically nowadays.

Retiring senior air force officers fly out in an helicopter and navy officers sail away in a boat for the last time.

These are military traditions, not mere correct English,

Of course,I know that. You should have simply put it this way : Nigerian Army Pulled Out 29 Army Generals. Using "Pulls out" and "Retired Generals" in the same sentence is misleading. You may want to check out your caption again :Nigerian Army Pulls Out 29 Retired Generals!

Lol, the great thing about public forums is that people with various levels of proficiency in English can contribute. I don't know whatever caption OP used. But get the message or if you don't get it, move ahead. OP might be a Maths or Chemistry guru and maybe not great in English.

It will shock you to see how poor many born and bred English people are in their own Language. I couldn't believe it.

Yes he mentioned Buratai but he also lied about how long he spent in the army. Buratai was commissioned into the army in 1983 and left in 2021 making a total of 38 years and not over 40 as he claimed. That makes him a liar
