Why Was King David Not Put To Death After Killing Uriah And Committing Adultery? by Daejumong(m): 8:07am On May 11
Why was King David not put to death after committing Adultery with Bathsheba and then killing the husband?

Are there different rules for the rich and poor? Are there different laws for the high and mighty?

Leviticus 20:10
New International Version
10 “‘If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death.

Leviticus 24:17 - And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.

Exodus 21:12 - He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.

King David committed Adultery and Murder both punishable by death.

Why did he not face the full wrath of the Mosaic Law?

Are Kings above the law?

Thank God for Jesus and the New Testament -We are all equal before Him

Gal. 3:28

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus

Who was there to apply The Law? Is it not David who even tried apllying The Law as he unstably did?

Did isreal want The Law applied? Did they ever even obeyed The Law? No

So now David's case enters God's Jurisdiction and the Judgment that came out of it is what you have seen in the bible.

Put to death by who...?

Besides it may not have been known that he secretly slept with uriah's wife.

Or that he secretly and indirectly was responsible for his murder.

What may have been known to the public was that he married the woman after her husband's death.

The act was only revealed by prophecy... Only God, the prophet, David and to some extent bersheba knew what really happened.

David didn't face any consequence or punishment for his sins from God because he was remorseful and repented.

Besides David was a man whom God loved... A man after God's heart!

OK... Just read the scripture again to be sure...

People might have suspected something was going on.

But it was when bathseba got pregnant that David tried to pin the pregnancy on Uriah who was away at the battle field.

He (David) invited him to come home so he can be with his wife so it will be like he was the father of the pregnancy. So his affair with uriah's wife would not be exposed.

But Uriah came on David's invitation but didn't go home to his wife (who the hell does that).

It was the reason David plotted uriah's murder by sending him to the part of the fiercest battle.

It was after uriah's death that Davido married bathseba and gave birth to a son. However, the prophet - Nathan confronted David saying God had seen everything and was not pleased.

David repented and the child born became ill and later died.

So while people may have suspected something was going on between David and Bathseba... The full extent of their affair and it's consequences might not have been fully known to the public until Nathan confronted David.

In the days of mosaic laws too you need eye witnesses to prove and convict someone of transgressions like adultery!

In case of Adultery...an stoning to death..there has to be proofs and witness....e.g the adulterous woman caught in the act during the time of Christ ..
.
For David however, nobody knew...nobody could mount judgement against him.. except that it was revealed only to Prophet Nathaniel to expose David and make him realize that despite no one knew, God himself saw it...
So David went broken and cried for forgiveness....despite God's forgiveness, David still suffered dire consequences for this action....

Fill in the human nature. When a beautiful woman moves into an area, do people not watch her?

And do people come out to report peoples infidelities? Is it not that they keep it secret hoping to use it either to gain a favour or to destroy the unfaithful person?

That is why they are silent.

As nairaland shows You know people always watch a beautiful woman to see what secret and scandal she keeps or she shall create.

And the person judging and stoning him must himself not be guilty of adultery or anything which can be used against him for "he who seeks Law, must do Law"!

That is the beauty and greatness of God's Law, in that it cuts both the sinner and the Judges.

So, anyone who is unqualified cannot execute God's Law, which is why and how Isreal never kept God's Laws!

I never attack Scripture! I instead attack the silly interpretations you lot attempt to attach to Scripture. Like the cowardly claim, you made earlier about an entire nation being unaware of David bedding a woman whose husband just so happened to have died on the battlefield, an attempt at whitewashing of David's image no different from that presented by Mohammed in his Quran book. grin

Who was an eye witness to the event? Name one.since the whole of Israel was aware..
.
The law of Moses states that there has to be 2 or 3 witnesses before a case can be established

1. Where exactly is it written that there were no eyewitnesses or that no one knew of David committing adultery with the woman? Be specific! undecided

2. We know what the Law says but where is it written that if no witnesses show up it means that no one saw? undecided

Do you agree that everything found written in the 66 books of the Bible with it's 1189 chapters and 31,200 words were inspired by God? undecided
