George-Kelly Alabo, a former Commissioner for Works in Rivers State, has said that the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, would have been "a level 14 officer in the civil service" if not for his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who helped him ascend.

Alabo resigned from Fubara's cabinet in March before becoming Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency.

Speaking on his resignation in a video shared by Channels Television, Alabo declared his loyalty to Wike, saying he couldn’t be seen as a betrayer.

“My loyalty lies irreversibly with Nyesom Wike.

“ Let me tell you something, we must not forget those who helped us to climb. The governor, for instance, would have been a level 14 civil servant in the Ministry of Finance if not for Wike who made him a DFA, Permanent Secretary, Accountant General, and governor,” he said.

On his disagreement with the governor, the former commissioner said he couldn’t have taken sides with Fubara because he did not fulfil his side of the peace agreement initiated by President Bola Tinubu.

“Part of the resolution was that the budget should be represented to the House of Assembly. So, there is no appropriation. How are you spending? That’s probably why I couldn’t side with him,” he stated.

Fubara and his godfather, Wike, have been at loggerheads since some lawmakers loyal to the Federal Capital Minister moved to impeach the governor.

Speaking on Saturday, the minister apologised to the people of the state, saying he made a mistake that would be corrected at the appropriate time.

He, however, did not disclose the nature of the mistake.

“I want to say this clearly: in life, we make mistakes. I have made a mistake. I own it up, and I say God forgive me. I have said all of you forgive me. But we will correct it at the appropriate time,” he said.

At least he had a solid career. What or who was wike before he became LG chairman? A man who i'm not sure practiced law for one day. Its unfortunate that Nigeria is a place where we discuss certain low lives just because the system has allowed the worst of us to lead the best of us.

Some people are really funny, I'm not a fan of wike but I can bet he would have still attained the level he is at the moment because he paid his dues with service. He fought for every Governor before him and they in return bless him by either appointment or recommendation so you see respect the man.

I'm a big fan of Amaechi but he(Amaechi) was in Ghana when wike was going to Abuja fighting for his mandate, in return he was rewarded.

He fought to deliver Rivers state for Goodluck Jonathan and in return was rewarded as a governor, now he fought to deliver Rivers state for Tinubu and he has been rewarded so give the man his respect he has really worked hard to get to where he is today.

What battles has Sim fought to be a governor? Can Sim single handedly deliver one LGA for his party? Omoh make we see as all this things go finally play out sha

idahme:

Which fight did Wike fight for Odilli before he made him LGA chairman and much more? I'm listening educate me, mind you wike served in the chambers of Mary as an intern shortly before he was made LGA chairman.

As for the fight he fought for Wike, He was taking the fall from the EFCC all through wike's time stealing Rivers State resources and building mentions and businesses all round Rivers State and beyond, what other fall are you talking about that is bigger than convering someone's corruption issues ? Just as woke was helped by others so he help others , nothing special about him.

Odili did not make wike an Lga chairman that's a fat lie, secondly you said Sim was taking the fall for Wike that's another fat lie, it was Wike that was actually shielding Sim from arrest. Who saw Sim when Efcc declared him wanted? Wike was using his powers as governor to hide the nigga. even during campaign it was Wike that was doing everything.

Anyway let's just watch and see how everything plays out.

When you hear this sort of disgusting statements, you will see the reason why every slowpoke want to go into politics, like that is all that matters? Aside from the looting and self allocated pecks of public elective and appointed offices, a civil servant is more relevant to the growth of a nation than you all thieves .

So you think he doesn't take legal counsel like you guys that jump ship without weighing the consequences ... I think one of you ported back, so why not port back ... your loyalty should be 100% for the governor or you stay out of the cabinet. There can't be two captain in a Ship it would lead to disaster.

This is a sensless and an unguarded statement. Who was Wike before Sen John Mbata helped him to become an LG Chair?
I will comment more when the loosely unreasonable ex commissioner addresses this.

Why did Wike take interest in a civil servant at level 14? What was he looking for, of all the people? What was he doing when he was protecting Fubara, the then accountant general of the state? What was Wike covering when he kept Fubara in the state house, away from the EFCC, who were looking for him? What has happened to the 483 billion state funds, which is the matter that Fubara was sought for and someone hid him until he became the governor?

If Fubara was arrested by the EFCC, where would Wike be today.

How many of those who worked for Wike to become the governor, remain his friends? Wike was the chief of staff to Amaechi. How did he become enemies with Amaechi.

Nigerians must be wary of these kind of politicians.

Fubara was bragging on TV how he paid school fees and gave food to HOA members. I laughed because Fubara was a low level civil servant. How would he have afforded to feed and pay school fees from his civil service salary. Civil servants that cannot even buy for themselves to drink.

made a mistake in 2016 by supporting Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as PDP National Chairman.

I made another mistake in 2017 by supporting Prince Uche Secondus as PDP National Chairman.

I made yet another mistake in 2021 by supporting Senator Iyorchia Ayu as PDP National Chairman.

And, most recently, I made a mistake in 2023 by supporting Sir Sim Fubara as my successor.

I think the appropriate way to prevent my former Governor from making further mistakes is to prevent him from making key political nominations.

I come in peace
