In line with his New Niger Agenda, Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has announced that the state government will sponsor 1,000 students to study science related courses in India to transform the state technologically.

Bago disclosed this in Bida during a dinner organised in his honour by the Niger South Stakeholders Forum at the weekend in Bida.

The governor said the world is evolving in terms of technology and Niger State needs to be in tune and not be left behind, acknowledging the great potential.

He advised people of the state to make optimal use of the potential for their good and that of the state.

He disclosed that the state government would not be intimidated by anyone in its quest to improve infrastructure, pointing out that Bida would be developed, and called for support and cooperation.

The governor specifically recognised Lavun local government council chairman, Isah Mohammed, for his commitment and development efforts in the area and promised to continue to support him for greater service delivery while urging other council chairmen to emulate him.

Meanwhile, the governor has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the 5 kilometer township road in Mokwa, Edati and Lavun local government areas as he reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots transformation

It's a good initiative but the pertinent question is, hope there isn't an ulterior motive to embezzle billions because there's always one.

Nigerian very back backwards people..they dont obey laws of gravity, laws of economics, polls etc...everything about Nigerians are upside down

See, the Niger govt wants to improve innovations and science impact in its state...but see how it will end

1. State sponsors like 100persons to study science abroad

2. They graduate, and stay there and work..

3. They become relevant in their Nugrtian community, building just a family house for their immediate self and family

4. Next after about 12 years working abroad, they seek political party membership and join the moving train in Nigeria

5. They start to contest for governor shil whilst contitributing 0% to scinecr and tech as it was planned...

6 .they join the charade of looters ....same cycle repeating itself

No, he's not like Obi that launders state's money in millions into Lagos, he's also not like Obi that stashed money meant for development into his family's businesses, and I'm sure this one would not use the state's money to build brewery so that his people would miserably drink and forget his woeful governance like Obi did. Tell us another story pls

Another nutjob of misplaced priorities in government house finding populist ways to swindle the masses.

What is the point in sending students to India for tertiary education when you have many children out of school and those lucky enough to be in school are in private establishments that are not adequately supervised? And the government schools are also in a shitty state.

How Nigeria’s Poor Education Infrastructures Increase the Rate of Out-of-School Children
Abubakar Abdulrasheed and Peter Emmanuel, September 29, 2023

In Niger State, the lack of access to quality education and the regular invasion of communities by rampaging bandits in recent years has forced many children out of school.

Niger State contributes over 700,000 children to Nigeria’s 20 million out-of-school children. The data is based on children aged six to 18 years from primary one to senior secondary school three.

Kodo Primary School, also in the Bosso LGA, was once a citadel of high-quality learning, but the dilapidated classrooms forced many parents to withdraw their children from the school.

Its primary three and six nursery sections had ceased because their structures had collapsed. Only primary four and 5 were functional and merged into a single classroom.

While the school has never been renovated since its establishment in 1976, the pupils sit on bare floors under leaking roofs and cracked walls and endure learning under the terrible deplorable conditions in their classrooms.

Bros Gov......
the world is global.......
Create a multi educational and cultural centre that will allow unhindered learning, (leave out sexual and religious mischiefs) and research locally and globally and secure their lives and see the effects in 10 years......
Nigeria has the resources...tap into it......
India has it's own plans
...you need one too
