Federalism and Presidential systems have failed to reposition Nigeria.
We need Confederal and Parliamentary systems that will empower the states more and enable them develop each at its own pace.
With Confederalism, each state would be much more able to deal with security matters by themselves, establishing state police and all the stuff, without unnecessary hassle and stress.
Even if Confederalism isn't adopted, the constitutional framework of Nigeria should be amended such that states would have power to establish state based security agencies on their own including state police, states would have greater control over the natural resources in their domains.
The US for instance operates a mix of presidential and federal systems of government.
Every one of the 50 states has its own constitution, with its own State Supreme Court.
There is a Federal Supreme Court based in Washington with the Federal Constitution.
Every American state operates its state police department, along with county police,parish police (for the state of Louisiana).
Each state has greater control and management of its natural resources.
The territories of US which include Guam, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands,all in the Pacific, and Puerto Rico, American Virgin Islands in the Caribbean,all operate with the Federal Constitution and laws, and equally manage their own natural resources.
Nigerian politicians should borrow America's political framework which has been working great for her, and not learn how to waste resources embarking on endless medical trips, hunting endlessly for investment partners.
Nigeria is great but bad leaders, ethnic and religious stupid sentiments are the anchor holding the movement of the ship.
