Three retired Generals allegedly led by Admiral Festus Porbeni waged the war against Governor Timipre Sylva’s re election bid over a downward review of a N2 Billion dredging contract, Pointblanknews.com gathered authoritatively.

Silva alleged foreign accounts which is discovered to have not less than £28 Million sources say, was responsible for the Peoples’ Democratic party, PDP, position to prevent a repeat of the disgraced former Governor Diepreye Alamasiegha’s saga.

An account in Barclays Bank, London with number, 004186943 with sort code 206242 with a balance of £14, 702, 812, 64 Million as of March 2010, is allegedly owned by Governor Sylva.
He is also alleged to operate an Abbey National Bank Instant Saver account; number H6828466BHW with a balance was of £6, 751, 873, 84. Million as of March 2010. Another account with a balance of £3, 687,864,35 Million as at last year at the National Bank is linked to the Bayelsa Governor.

Politicians holding offices are prohibited by Nigeria constitution from operating foreign accounts.

It was gathered the three generals from Bayelsa, led by Admiral Porbeni, were those who fought for the creation of Bayelsa State and supported Silva.

Pointblanknews.com however learnt that Porbeni got angry with Silva when a N2 Billion dredging contract he got from President Jonathan when he was governor, was slashed to N600 million when Silva took power.

Porbeni, a die hard supporter of the President and one of those said to have fought for the creation of Bayelsa State and his clique vowed to ensure Silva is stopped. The names of the other two Generals could not be ascertained as the time of filling this report.

Another curious twist is, there are conflicting tales as to why the party wants Silva stopped from realizing his second term ambition.

There have been sundry reasons for his disqualification, which includes his disrespect for President Goodluck Jonathan, his alleged threat to kill him, and sponsor mayhem in the state if the President tries to stop him.

But sources within the party hinted that the PDP and could not afford to risk Silva’s participation, considering his grip on the state structure and massive resources at his disposal.

Said a source “ the party cannot risk it. Silva has a strong grip on the structure of the party, he also has massive wealth. If he is allowed to participate at the primaries, he may just get it, because it is all about delegates”

Another source hinted that the party could be in quandary as per Silva and Timi Alaibe. The PDP decided to stop the two heavyweights: Alaibe and Silva . According to the source” they both have structures, and with what is happening now, gunshots, and thuggery everywhere, the party is wary about the outcome of the primaries. If Silva wins, there would be trouble, if Alaibe there could be mayhem, so the decided to take them out and allow new people run . Don’t forget the party can stop anyone, because the INEC will only recognize whoever is presented”

Pointblanknews.com also gathered that the party decided to fix the primaries for November 19, 48 hours before the Supreme Court rules on tenure of Governors on November 21. This move was meant to preempt any verdict by the apex court. Said our source” you see why you cant fight the party. No matter the outcome of the Supreme Court ruling, Silva would be gone”

However, the best Silva could get from the apex court is for him to remain Governor till February 2012. Said our source “ the Supreme Court would either back INEC which says their tenure ended last April or throw weight behind the Governors, who will have a breather till February. But if Silva is stopped from running on November 19, he is out . The only option for him is to go to another party”

According to our source, Silva has showed a lot of bravado in the last week. It was learnt that some party chieftains urged him to seek the support of Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo but he refused. Said the source “ he was told to visit baba during the Salah festival, and ask for his support, but he refused. WE assumed since the former President is the chairman Board of trustees, he could help, but he refused.”

It was also learnt that Silva is seeing the move by the powers that be to send the EFCC after him as double standard. A source hinted that” What Silva is saying is, why didn’t the EFCC go after Jonathan when he gave $100,000 to his wife to buy jewelries. He was just alleging all sort of stuff, instead of make peace with the party. “

Pointblanknews.com also learnt that when Mrs. Silva and the Bayelsa Deputy Governor tried to see Mrs. Jonathan last week at an event she refused them audience. Later at an event organized by a religious group, Silva took shots at Mrs. Jonathan describing her as an enemy.

Someone getting drown holds at anything he see, even if it is snake, he would not mind holding it.
