Reacting to the development, the APC spokesman, Felix Morka, said Obi’s planned return to the PDP won’t be a surprise. He described the former Anambra State governor as a “political wayfarer that is only dwarfed by Atiku’s track record as a veteran political wanderer.” “What is unclear, however, is whether Obi would make a comeback to Atiku’s PDP or whether Atiku would dump his PDP and seek rehabilitation in Obi’s Labour Party or whether both men would abandon PDP and Labour, altogether, and sojourn into the political wilderness of Professor Pat Utomi’s mega party.”Lol 2 Likes |

And so? Atiku has a constitutional right to be ambitious and desperate. If APC fails to perform, they create the ease for Atiku to realize his desperation. Tinubu and APC have two years to turn the tide around. They have started on a good slate and must see their reforms to the end. 59 Likes 3 Shares |

In response to the statements from the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding Mr. Peter Obi and Mr. Atiku Abubakar, it is important to examine the underlying motivations and the current state of the APC, which may shed light on their reaction. Firstly, labeling Obi and Atiku as "desperate" is a classic tactic to divert attention from the real issues at hand. The APC's attempts to portray these two opposition leaders as opportunistic ignores the broader context of why such alliances might be forming. It is crucial to remember that political alliances and shifts are common in democracies, especially when there is widespread discontent with the ruling party's performance. The APC's harsh rhetoric against Obi and Atiku can be seen as a reflection of their own insecurities and fears. After all, the current administration under President Bola Tinubu has faced significant criticism for its handling of the economy, corruption scandals, and failure to deliver on many of its promises. Instead of addressing these criticisms constructively, the APC resorts to attacking the character of opposition leaders. The accusations of "political wayfaring" and "desperation" directed at Obi and Atiku also highlight the APC's paranoia. Such language suggests that the APC feels threatened by the possibility of a strong opposition coalition. If the APC were confident in their governance and popular support, they would welcome political competition as a healthy part of democracy rather than deriding it. Moreover, the assertion that President Tinubu's administration is focused and extraordinarily committed to transformation does not align with the lived experiences of many Nigerians. Economic hardships, high unemployment rates, and persistent corruption are still very much present. The defensive posture of the APC spokesperson seems more like an attempt to mask these shortcomings rather than a genuine assessment of the administration's achievements. It's also worth noting the irony in the APC's criticism of political opportunism. The APC itself has seen its fair share of political realignments and defections over the years. To single out Obi and Atiku for behaviors that are prevalent across the Nigerian political landscape is disingenuous at best. In conclusion, the APC's reaction to the potential alliance between Obi and Atiku reveals more about their own guilt and paranoia than it does about the opposition leaders' intentions. Rather than attacking their opponents, the APC should focus on addressing the substantive issues facing the country and proving through action that they are the best choice for Nigeria's future. If the administration's performance were truly exemplary, there would be no need for such defensive and aggressive rhetoric. 1 Like 2 Shares |
