In a significant achievement for African football, Nigeria's Asisat Oshoala has made history by becoming the first African player to win three UEFA Women's Champions League (UWCL) titles.

Oshoala secured her third title with Barcelona Femeni, despite transferring mid-season to Bay FC in the United States.

The Super Falcons forward played in the UWCL group stage for Barcelona, making two appearances and scoring once before her move.

Her early-stage contributions were crucial in securing her historical achievement, as Barcelona triumphed 2-0 over Olympique Lyon in the final held at San Mames on Saturday, May 25.

This victory capped an exceptional season for Blaugranes, who achieved an unprecedented quadruple by winning the Liga F, Copa de la Reina, Supercopa de Espana, and the UWCL, according to BSN Sports.

The UWCL title was clinched with goals from Aitana Bonmati in the 63rd minute and a stoppage-time goal from substitute Alexia Putellas.

In March, Oshoala also made headlines as the first official National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) goalscorer for the newly established Bay FC.

The Nigerian star, transferred for a reported $150,000, scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Angel City FC, marking a memorable start to her NWSL career.

"My career has been all about making history, doing crazy things, and I’m very happy to be part of the club's history," the six-time Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women's Player of the Year told Score Nigeria while reflecting on her career.
