Too many mistakes as Wenger said - Koscielny, Wilshere, Ozil, and partly Mertesacker, with Wilshere being the greatest culprit.

On the positives, good to see Walcott back and scoring, and Giroud not getting a yellow meaning he's available against Chelski.

We need to use the rest period well and beat Chelski in the next game - we have to win that game.

harsh on wenger.......these same players were away in europe in the midweek while 70% of city players were at home preparing for a home game. it's inevitable that arsenal would get scorched.

Wilshere was rested, yet he was the worst offender - no excuses I'm afraid.

Yes Citeh were superior even without the mistakes and there were numerous dubious calls by the ref, but all you can do is expect your own players to get the basics right and we didn't.

Harsh kor', marsh ni'... You think Wenger didn't know when he threw in 3 subs in that Everton game. They needed all 3 point from there to ensure that they'd still be top after the next 2 games.
Wenger did not believe they could beat city neither does he believe his team can beat chelsea. I think he has just resigned to losing to the top sides and then making it back from the smaller sides... problem is, atimes, the fixtures can be very cruel.

@Bolded, for as much as i am a great admirer and still believe he will come very good, he was simply too poor today and has been a couple of games now but my take on the manager was why on earth did he not take him off.

As much as city were the better side, we actually created a couple of good scoring chances which I felt Giroud wasted. I duff my Hat to Theo even though im one of his greatest critic for what he does off the ball. He looked very sharp in the box and maybe had Giroud been sharper we could have had a decent result today.

Still on top but its getting rather uneasy at the moment.

how would the players get the basics right if they are fatigued? away in napoli quickly followed by 12.45pm away game on saturday. go and find out about these early fixtures - they rarely favour the away team in big games.

arsenal shouldn't panic - they can lose all their away games against big teams & still win the league.

makes you even want to hate moyes more - if he had beaten the smaller teams, we would be in a touching distance to arsenal as we speak.

I don't like this December turning into our November o.

Team selection, substitutions were all wrong. I hope we don't repeat this kind of performance ever again this season. Misplaced passes, no defensive cover from midfield, totally unacceptable.

Onto the next game.

They should panic... By this time next week, it could be Chelsea on top; and for me, that's curtains... Because looking at Wenger, he isnt even sure of beating a ragged UTD at the Emirates talkless of an on-form City or Chelsea.

if you are going to win the championship, fatigue shouldn't be an excuse.
Arsene Wenger is far too experienced to be caught by that bug.
As debosky pointed out Wilshere who was rested midweek was pants. Wenger leaving out Arteta was key for handing the initiative in the middle to City for me.

arsenal's first 10 league fixtures masked a lot of their problems. majority of those matches were very easy. even when the media was gassing them up, wenger did not tow that line......na fans like pataki & co that bought into it & started celebrating the league title in december.

chelsea may eat them alive next week.
mourinho has never lost to wenger & he will not lose next week. arsenal are in danger of getting unseated from the pole position & we all know their mentality is weaker than bin laden's heart condition. the league table is delicately poised now - it will be interesting from now on.

so arteta could have prevented those 2 beasts in city's midfield? abeg - if wenger had vieira & petit in that midfield today, they would have lost. who be arteta?
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by proudlysports: 6:31pm On Dec 14, 2013
The midfield messed up today and I think AW didn't help matters. Unless Arteta wasn't fit for the game, he should have started alongside Flamini. Flams simply got out muscled and outclassed by Yaya and Fernadinho. To make matters worse, he took of Flamini for Gnabry leaving the defenders even more vulnerable.

I wouldn't blame the defense too much. They were simply overwhelmed with little help from midfield. Added to the fact that our midfielders for whatever reasons suddenly went colour blind and began to pass to City players.

Kudos to Walcott. Gave us another option, making runs around the City defense. Giroud needs to learn from him.

5 points dropped in two games. We cannot afford to drop points against Chelsea. After that, the games get slightly easier.
