For example: "The resignation of the NLC chairman, precipitated civil servants all over the country into going on an indefinite nation wide strike" which means that the civil servants already had taking a strike action in mind, but the NLC chairman's resignation triggered it... I hope this is clear enof...Please, the misuse of the word is starting to piss me off.

But in most case I doubt if u really understand watz goin on, nairaland post has this ability of changing some word you wrote and replacing it with precipitate.. I once heard sum1 complainin here about hw his post was modified without his consent..I thought he was joking until my post this mornin to olayiwola9, when a 'cum' was replaced with 'precipitate' in my writeup.
