This picture would make a great statue (if international experts are contracted to mold and raise it ) in Enugu.

The SE governors can co-fund it, or Enugu state government can also do it in such a way that it would be a HUGE tourist attraction in Enugu. To have the desired tourist and landscape effect, the statue should rise up to 300 meters.

It can be designed to stand on top of Udi Hills, or a center with tourist infrastructure like restaurants, casino, shopping center etc.

It can also take a different feel such as hosting a civil war library and memorial wall with the names of Easterners who died in the war.

I chose Enugu because it was the capital of Eastern region/Biafra.  If Gov Chime wastes any time, then Gov Rochas should swing to action and take it to Owerri (another capital of Biafra).

These governors must not let us down.

This is an opportunity to make us proud! 

This statue should be called "Freedom Tower" or "Ojukwu Freedom Tower", or simply "Ikemba Tower".

It should make a very bold and clear statement and etch deeply into the psyche of any tourist about what the man meant to us.

It should also keep us mentally alert and alive to our responsibility to the ideals of Biafra.

If the governors don't have money, they should ask us Igbo to contribute. Even if it costs $1 billion, we should build it!

This tower should launch a new era of renaissance in the East.
One preacher said that a person's success or failure depends on who the person chooses to honor.

Is Ojukwu worthy of our (Igbo) honor? Few Igbo would disagree, and I would say a resounding YES.
But HOW we do it would be used by others to judge us as a people, to know whether we even understand our precious assets. To weigh us.

If we don't honor Ojukwu the right way, no one would ever take us serious again in Nigeria.
I hope our governors understand the import of this opportunity to honor Ojukwu.

If they blow it, they would make us a laughing stock in Nigeria and beyond.

Anambra is already making arrangements to develop a massive Memorial Park and a huge statue of Ojukwu in Awka. It will be unity center for the Igbos both at home and in diaspora.

Anambra, Enugu, Owerri should all go ahead. The more the merrier.

By the way the can set up an account for this purpose if they need money. Igbos from all works of life are ready and willing to contribute their widows mite for the hero.

Imagine just only 5 million people contributing just 1000 each. Whoever can reach the organisers should let the know this.

Exactly what I had in mind. It should (if possible) stand on Udi Hills or any point overlooking Enugu. It should be visible approaching from the air towards the airport at Emene.
Enugu would just be perfect for it, but it depends on Chime, and how hard he lobbies/works for this.
Other SE states are waiting to snatch it.

I will send the proposal to two of my friends in federal government (both from Enugu state). The aim of this thread however is to fly the idea before all Easterners. Anybody can run with it! The more people are enlightened about the idea the better.
Of course it is a HUGE investment opportunity, and ready businessmen in the East should grab it and run with it.
It should be a PPP project, or outright private project with government directives.

The tower will be Ojukwu tower because Ojukwu was the Gov of Eastern Region.
The memorial wall should have ALL the names of Easterners who died in the war and/or who played prominent role in the war on Biafran side. The wall will contain millions of names.
