This morning while I was going through my "Contact Me" messages, for my blog "www.naijatechblog.com" I saw a post "10 Reasons People are Unhappy with Their Mobile Phone" The caption alone got my attention to read the post. The author Coleen Torres had suggested I share it with my readers which I deemed very fit after reading the post. I do know that there are lots of advances in the Mobile Technology World that makes it practically impossible for people to complain of their devices or services rendered via their mobile phones, but trust me there is always a thing to complain about. Mobile phone technology has made great advances over the last 35 years, so much, in fact, that you’d think we would all be simply delighted with our cell phones. That is not, however, the case. Here are 10 reasons that people are often less than pleased with their mobile phone service.

1. Service Contracts. Have you ever actually read a service contract from a cell phone provider? Worse, have you ever tried to change or get out of one without having to sign for another two years or pay a massive penalty? One might think that these companies pay more for lawyers than they do for satellite or tower service time.

2. Unwanted Features. On another side of the service contract issue, have you ever tried to obtain only those features and services that you’ll actually use, without having to pay for stuff you neither need nor want? A virtual impossibility.

3. Wrong Number Charges. It’s bad enough to have to pay for call time when you make a mistake and enter the wrong number, but having to pay for someone else’s mistake when you’re called unintentionally is adding insult to injury.

4. Text Message Charges. Trying to decide how many text messages to pay for on your basic plan is a bit like gambling on the weather. Paying for more than you need is annoying, not paying for enough and receiving a few too many texts from your friend with unlimited service can be a real blow to your bank account.

5. Hacker Potential. With the stories that have recently been in the news about people being able to hack into mobile phone accounts to hear and see messages, there is even more reason to be dissatisfied with mobile phone service.

6. Dropped Calls and Other Service Interruptions. Have you ever been on an important call while mobile, and lost it when you moved out of the reach of the closest cell tower? Of course you have. In fact, you can be in your own home, and walk too far to the left, or tilt your head the wrong way, and the call is lost. Grr.

7. Weather Issues. Regardless of how reliable the technology may be, nature always finds a way to play a trump card. It may be an electrical storm, heck, it may be sunspots, but even in places where the technology normally works well there can be interruptions in service from natural causes.

8. Random Glitches. Sometimes, it seems as if your cell phone has a malevolent sense of humor. Just when you get to the one bit of important information on a call, there is a technological burp, and you miss what you wanted to hear. Or, what you are trying to tell the person at the other end gets wiped out in a random digital hiccup and does it several times in a row. Throwing the phone doesn’t help, other than to allow you a moment of satisfaction.

9. Technology Advances. Just when you’ve finally become familiar with all the cool stuff that you can do with your mobile communication device, and learned how to make it work for you, some company puts out a new device that does even more! Don’t you sometimes wish that you could stop having to buy new devices and settle into using all the features of the one you already have?

10. Inescapability. You just can’t get away from the darn thing, can you? Go somewhere without it and you experience repeated panic attacks, wondering what important calls you might be missing. Leave it behind on purpose, and it stays there in the back of your mind, haunting you like a garage door you’re not sure that you closed as you drove away.

There are other reasons to be unhappy with your mobile phone, but these are the ones most often mentioned in the 27 minutes of internet research that it took to write this article. Think about it a while and you’ll certainly come up with your own. Share them with someone else, though, we’re too annoyed by these to want to spend any more time on the issue.

Loving my phone

I think it applies to peeps that are in phone contracts, which is what most peeps abroad do. unlike us where its mostly "by phone separate, sim separate",

No dull moment with my fone.

Ok guys lets say we Nigerians are so lucky that such peeps are not dominant here. However, minus the points mentioned in the post above, haven't you for once had one reason to be unhappy with your phone? Think of those times when you see charges that are not supposed to be made on your phone by operators. Remember yr mobile phone houses all these!

Unhappy ke? I cant live without my phone oo. It brings me joy sef.

I can't do without my phone,i love my fone!

hmmm, i never find a reason to get a new phone except the old one goes bad. besides, we don't do phone contracts in naija so half the problems on that list are crossed out. i also have strict policy for fone buying (anything that's not symbian, android or windows phone is not even considered including IOS) so i hardly have cause to complain. tho i must admit, my nokia 5800 did give me some problems. didn't know it was cos of heat coming from the battery till i wrapped the battery in paper! :p

The way i see things, the foremost reason for desiring a new phone is, well, for the sake of the new phone!
A shiny new toy is always a delight.

Nothing written above there actually concerns me! Like someone rightly said turn off your phone for a whole day! Then you will understand the reason we are all soooo much in LOVE with our Mobiles

2. Unwanted Features.Think of some promos which you are automatically migrated to without notice, and some of them comes with monthly charges until you complain to your service customer care.

3. Wrong Number Charges. How do you feel paying for a call you never made just because you dialed a number?

6. Dropped Calls and Other Service Interruptions. What service interruptions on your phone when making a very important call that can change your life? Don't we experience such from MTN, GLO, AIRTEL and ETISALAT?

7. Weather Issues.No mattter how tight your phone is to you, can overcome weather issues and continuously give you the services you want? Think of so many issues your phone can have with weather condition.

Like I said earlier, this post is not about how much you love your mobile phone but factors that makes you want to be unhappy with your phone.

the only reason i get unhappy with my phone (blackberry) is because of the battery, and the fact that i hav to take a charger or usb cord to the office evry damn day.

apart from that. . .my phone is part of me. i cant do without it. its like an attachment to my skin

police issue, especially bb, ave been arrested twice this month, they always wanna know d content of the phone, stupid pple
