This is exactly how i've always felt, however i think there are some reasons as to why burials are a big deal to most people, One is that humans as far back as the egyptian times have been seriously affiliated with the concept of an afterlife, hence the mummification process (embalming cleaning of the corpse for it so supposedly arrive its final place in a good condition ). Which is partly same thing done in mortuaries today, so since then this process has been passed down and we got used to it.

Secondly in ancient times kings and members of royal families had dedicated burial places already arranged before they die, David in the bible was buried in such places. So it also became a class thing the wealthy get buried in dedicated tomb stones (Recall the rich man who bought a place like this strictly for jesus body to be buried in) and the poor who couldnt affrord it.

Same applies today a big burial shows wealthy family e.g obi cubana mums burial, a smaller burial shows not so wealthy family, Trust Nigerians we already have phrases for it. 'i pass my neighbour' 'No be my own worst pass' so we can keep a corpse in a mortuary for a long time until the required funds are raised.

Personally i feel dust we are and dust we are to return Inside coffin or not.
Burials are a waste of money
Thanks
