The planned transport sector strike planned for the 19th of this month will take place as scheduled. The Matatu Welfare Association together with the Matatu Drivers and Conductors Association say the strike will take place despite yesterday's reduction in fuel prices. At the same time, the long distance truck drivers have also announced that they will join the planned strike from Sunday midnight.

My man up there. cool cool Man of the people. Why cant he run for presidency??

Yes let them strike. Washezi!!  grin grin I fully fully dance support them and most citizens do,even though its gonna interfere with the usual christmas travels. But who cares, the high fuel cost has made everything go up. Everything is damn expensive!

Infact Kenya is the only country in the East with high fuel prices! and the oil going to those other countries passes through Kenya!!!
Now that is not fair.

Strike and strike good. You have my support!
The doctors did it and the goverment responded
The postal workers are having there's as well. They demand a salary increase. I am sure somebody will reward them.
Now its a people's strike! I am loving these strikes cz they are not violent and the goverment is reacting.

Lets see if its Kimutai vs Atwoli. strike strike strike. The roads will be soo clear. smiley

First of all I know you saw what I typed about you over on the Romance board but we'll leave that for another day.  wink

Now to the subject, yes it's good Kenyans are pushing back against the global oil companies that try to maximize as much profit as they can from energy resources. I've read a few articles this week about G E J wavering in his plan to remove the subside in 9ja. We'll see what happens, this should be historic. There is push back and global uprising going on all over the planet, even in China. The economic elite had better reevaluate how they manage things.

I think I did but I try as much as possible to avoid replying to personal comments cz some very crazy people roam the place and are ready to pick up a well intentioned comment then proceed to rubbish it or make a mountain out of it. Its soo uncivilised and childish.

It's crazy how the gover has been blaming the weakening of the shilling for the sharp rise in fuel costs. Unfortunatley I know nothing about Gej. (not 9ija)
And even though they blame external factors, Tanzania faces the same yet their prices have remained constant at less than a dollar!
Its just policy and formulation. we have gotten used to daily adjustments messing up our budgets.

I understand, there are a ton of nut cases on the net. I wasn't trying to make you feel uncomfortable, or ask for your hand and heart in marriage, I just made an statement to address something you said that affected my consciousness very deeply. Expressing oneself without being crass or undignified is always civilized.

Global players in an far off land control most governments and fuel prices. They have been at the economic exploitation game for quite some time and these are not likely to rectify for the masses any time soon. I don't think Tanzania has as vibrant economy as Kenya.

I am mature enough to understand that. It happens and I can also tell u that some stories here relate to situations I have personaly dealt with or come across.

Kenya is the most vibrant economy in the East. You are correct. Its strategic location gives it advantage over the others in the region esp in term of accessibility.

Re: Kenyan Transport Strike by pendo89(f): 3:34pm On Dec 19, 2011
^ yeah. undecided
But that was the whole plan. To get the citizens wrath worked up and cause them to point fingers at the goverment.
I have a feeling it will be pushed till Jan.The worst time when schools reopen.
Have u ever been to Kenya?
Re: Kenyan Transport Strike by AfroBlue(m): 5:19pm On Dec 19, 2011
@pendo89

The peoples thoughts are in the right place. It isn't easy organizing mass movements. It's difficult when one is living from paycheck to paycheck or from daily receipts of income to survive. Thus I put those words of universal wisdom about saving in my NL signature section.

Kenyans have a good track record of coming together for change. The Mau Mau Uprising and and the efforts of the Honorable Sister Wangari Maathai are important templates.

I'm working on getting on African soil and staying there. A childhood acquaintance made the move a while ago and there was no looking back.
