Let me begin by underlining that I created this thread out of genuine concern for peaceful co-existence among christian and muslims in nigeria. However, diverse reactions to the Christmas day bombing os St. Theresa Catholic church in Madalla has elicited a lot of reactions from nigerians, especially religious leaders, raising concerns of possible religious war among chrisitians and muslims in nigeria. To butress my point, I refer to statements by Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) who viewed the attack as 'Jihad on Christians' and indicated readiness of Christians to retaliate further attacks. Given that one of the demands and aims of Boko Haram group whose members are muslims of norhtern extraction is the institution of Sharia Law across Nigeria, which has undoubtedly culminated into senseless attacks on churches and innocent christians ( Christians are mostly from the South) by the group, do you think it will be wrong for christians to use any means to defend or wade off this attacks? This is taking into cognisance, glaring failure and clueless approach by government in tackling the Boko Haram group. If Christians go ahead to defend themselves or retaliate, what wil become of Nigeria? What is the way forward people?

So CAN is talking now?
Nothing wrong in defending yourself.
Quite selfish and stupid on the government's part if they go about with bodyguards and expect the people to go without a form of defense in a unsafe environment.
You do not approach violence with nonchalance. As soon as it starts you nip it in the bud. Nigeria has left this civil disorder for so long that is why it looks so irredeemable. Take a cue from America, no negotiation with terrorists.
