The National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) (South-West), Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo, has assured Nigerians that the party would regain the lost states in the South-West in the subsequent elections.

He said this at the inauguration of state committees for the South-West zone, explaining that the problem facing the party in the zone would soon be over, and that the party would bounce back to reclaim the lost states.

He explained that part of the move to reposition the party was the inauguration of the new executives in each of the six states, who would move the party forward.

He assured that the party would create a level playing field for all aspirants in the party’s congress which would come up soon.

Alhaji Oladipo bemoaned a situation where some party members would see the party as an avenue to enrich themselves at the expense of the party members. He, however, charged members of the new committees to live up to expectation and reposition the party to favour all members.

Members of the committee present were Ambassador Musiliu Obanikoro from Lagos state; Honourable Tunde Odusina from Ekiti State and Chief Mustapha from Ogun State.

Alhaji Oladipo advised members of the committee to interact with members of the party so that they could know their problems and find solutions to them.

Speaking on behalf of the committee members, Ambassador Obanikoro thanked the party for giving them opportunity to lead the party in their various states, just as he assured the leadership of the party that they would live up to expectation and work assiduously to reposition the party in their various states.

He explained that to get the party to the top required sacrifices and they were ready to make such sacrifices to lift up the party.

Oh really? What difference are you looking for after a few months after inheriting the rot the Punishingly Deceitful People?

Even after more than a decade at the center, and dominance at the state level PDP is an abject disappointment everywhere. Having only a few states under its administration ACN still manages to deliver the brightest of hope, and result-oriented leadership.

I don't expect PDP & its operative to be able to tell the difference between PDP and ACN. Afterall they keep putting people in positions of power who need a memory card to remember which of their hands is right or left

Fashola has turned out to be a corrupt, untrustworthy and deceitful governor who likes to use anything and everything to extort money from the people, without any compassion/plans for the poor masses. No wonder he used all means to block the investigation of his government

In the SW, once people are mad at your govt, you can be swept off in a protest vote. The party that may benefit may not necessarily be a popular party!

Except they reverse the unpopular policies of this government, 2015 will be very difficult for ACN. The last LG elections showed clearly that people cannot be deceived, exploited and fleeced just because a governor is planting flowers and resurfacing roads in VI and S/Lere while the poor market women/artisans are suffering.

I am 100% ACN but totally disappointed in Fashola's style of governance, Medical doctors to go on strike for almost 3 months in an ACN state(Lagos)? Unheard of!

PDP ke! They had been known to be party of the riggers without anything to show for it. We are in 2011 and they are already talking about 2015, this shows they are gathering momentum to rig come 2015. With the level their "oga" no fit handle Nigeria, how "pikin" go take handle state? The PDP didn't do well during the 8 years they held power in the SW, they are doing a spectacularly bad job at the national level, and they are well known for corruption and vote rigging. With their record, I don't see how they are ever going to get the yorubas to vote for them again. And if they rig and win like they did in 2003, there will be mayhem in the streets.

I advise the PDP to focus on stealing what they can in Abuja and the states they control. If they get greedy and try and force their way back to the SW then they could unwittingly spark the popular revolution that will bring an end to this cycle of democracy.

You may have valid points against the focus on revenue at the expense of what it does to the common man. However, I don't know about declaring Fashola "corrupt, untrustworthy and deceitful" - that is going too far.

In addition, your solution is typical of what we have being doing for donkey years in Nigeria - when democracy experiences difficulty we call for the military, but then immediately ask the military to organize elections. In other words, you can't fall back on PDP because you disagree with some policy decision of an ACN governor. ACN the officials it has produced are way ahead of PDP by any measure, but they are not made of angels or the like.

The real solution is to impress upon Fashola and others the need to temper some of these policies by proposing alternatives, and taking an active role in decisions within the party.

Don't throw away the baby with the bathwater.
