OSOGBO- Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state has condemned the Christmas day bombing in Madalla by the Boko Haram sect.

Aregbesola made the condemnation at the first annual conference of an Islamic group, the Nasrul-lahi-l- Fatih Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) in Osogbo.

It will be recalled that the bomb attack on December 25 in Niger State left many Christian worshipers dead while others sustained various degrees of injuries.

The governor described the development as a very sad and irresponsible act which had no justification of any kind in Islam.

He said that all genuine Muslims in the whole world must strongly condemn the dastardly act as ungodly in all its ramifications.

Aregbesola decried the ugly act which, he said, was against Islamic teachings or doctrine even as he denounced all the activities of the Boko Haram.

He said that even at wartime, women and children were protected by combatants as against what the sect had been doing.

The governor said that the wanton killings and maiming of people by the sect must no longer be tolerated by the authorities.

He decried a situation where the sect had continued to perpetrate atrocities under the guise of waging religious war

Well done.

He didn't play politics with the matter, as the foolish Bisi Akande did.

He didn't say weasely words, like the id1iotic Sultan of Sokoto did.

He did not choose silence, as many other Muslim politicians have done.

He recognized the gravity of what happened and recognized that it must be condemned.

And not only recognized that it must be condemned, but that it is his obligation to be amongst the first to condemn it, since Boko Haram is committing these acts in the name of his religion.

Thanks for showing wisdom, Aregbe.

Good one from Aregbesola. But we await hardcore muslim leaders especially from the north to explicitly denounce bokoharam.

Re: Gov Aregbesola Condemns Christmas Day Bombings by Mobinga: 7:11pm On Dec 30, 2011
Even if he is feigning empathy, he still comes sensible than the President. Regardless, the core Islamic north (Sultan and the likes) are not fulminating against this act which invariably means that they are pro-Boko Haram.

[size=15pt]The ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF PEACE propaganda is a flatus vocis that needs no further romanticization.
Indeed it may be, but Islamic leaders are NOT!
From Khomeni to King Abdullah, the Sultan of Sokoto and other Mullahs, clerics, etc when not sponsoring terrorism, they are plotting and facilitating conflicts.
If the governors are serious, they need to seat down all the major religious leaders of the two popular faiths and trash out some key issues. These men (mostly men) are rogues who indoctrinate their sheep from early age and bolster the tribal and religious animosity in our midst.

Enough playing politics with politically correct statement (ISLAM IS PEACE) that do nothing but divert attention from the real issues.

Boko Harams are misguided Nigerians in the north who are killing and maiming innocent people just like their brother MEND in the South. They're not under the control of anybody. In case you've forgotten, their leader had been summarily executed in 2009 by the police. If they can't listen to the Nigerian President being Nigerians themselves, I don't see how they will listen to any Islamic Cleric or leader just because they're Muslims.

What ever you say there are people that have already made up their minds that BH equals muslims. However most muslims are victims to BH themselves and are powerless against them. The Government should up its intelligence capacity and deal with this menace.
I condemn the christmas day bombing as the work of terrorist and blood thirsty monsters that deserve to be fished out and executed for killing innocent Nigerians.
However,to some Nairaland commentators, whe must learn to condemn evil whoever committed them. it is wrong to castigate islam when christians are killed and be muted when the same crime is committed on muslims . Even the media is guilty of this "Where were they when Muslims were attacked during the last Eid-Fitr celebration that preceeded the month of Ramadan in Plateau State where Muslims were attacked, killed and maimed? Sixteen people were not only slaughtered, but roasted and eaten. About a hundred vehicles burnt/destroyed. mind you this crime was also commited in a mosque. I REPEAT THIS IS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR THE XMAS DAY BOMBIN HOWEVER SAME DEGREE OF INDIGNATION SHOULD BE EXHIBITED IN SIMILAR CASES.

"Why is this thing looking like a conspiracy of silence from the media both local and foreign? Are Muslims animals? Are they not citizens of this country? Why is it always silence when something happened against the Muslims.
Yes i know i will soon be lablled a BH or a BH sponsor. But truth had to be told. Muslims are victims to this BH menace too and until we the GOOD PEOPLE (CHRISTIANS/MUSLIM ) FIGHT THE EVIL PEOPLE( BOKO HARAM), we will continue to fight each other while BH will achieve their aim of disintegrating the polity. The fight is between good and evil not between christianity and islam.
The first man to fight BOKO HARAM on a national scale is a muslim scholar from Kano Sheik Jafaar. He faught BH even before the federal government both physically and spiritually. He was murdered in cold blood inside his mosque in Kano by BH . How then can you ignorantly wake up and blame muslim/islam for BH?
Guys this is the 21st century, if the media is compromise you can google and carry out your individual research before making unguarded comments that will forther aggravate the situation. Religious war can consume me and you and our families. God bless you.
