Abacha and co bowed to NLC and the Nigerian people because they had no mandate from the people ab inition. We voted for GEJ. We gave him our mandate. so why should he bow to a mere labour union/opposition party members(like bakare) who the people rejected.

Total = N29, 479, 749.00 * 109 Senators Grand Total = N 3,264,329,264. 10
The Salary of the President of the United States has however been put at $250,000/yr while the GDP U.S. Economy: $13Trillion/ yr.
The allowance of each Nigerian Senator amounts to $1,500,000/yr which is even far more than what accrues to the American President. The GDP of the country on the other hand amounts to $45 Billion/yr.
This has been described as nothing but a feeding frenzy and an open looting of Nigeria because it is happening in a country where Doctors, teachers, civil servants cannot boast of N1m a year

While I agree that the FG is maintaining a hard stance. The NLC/TUC share a greater proportion of the blame. How can a labour union tell an elected president to reverse himself otherwise no discussion. That is enough to make any president to ignore you. During military regimes, it might to okay to issue such orders during strikes because thats the language they understand and they had nobody's mandate but you don't do that to an elected president. The same people that are insisting that the FG must reverse are ignoring a court order and the part of the Reps motion urging them to call off the strike, yet they want the president to obey their order. Anyway, when two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers

We have been hearing that preaching for years now. And do not compare Moses to any Nigerian politician( all dubious and lack integrity). It is unfair to God. Moses must be rolling in his grave for that comparison.

Now, let us do some math. Crude oil is set $75 benchmark on budget by the government. For the past 4years, a barrel of crude has been in the average of $100 or perhaps more. What happened to the $25 surplus?

Nigeria exports a little above 2 million barrels a day. Calculate 2million * $25(surplus) * 30days * 12 months *  = About $1.5 billion naira a year surplus. Not to talk of other domestic revenues the government gets. In addition to that, Nigeria officially earns( $75) more than $USD60 billion a year  from crude alone and does budget of about $30billions a year. What happens to the other $30 billion dollars?

President Goodluck earmarked 1 billion for food. what is he eating? Him and his family get unique belle?  Cmon, if he serious of fundamentally turning the economy around, let him start with the fundamentals. He can as well start with himself, friends and political cronies.

Give Nigerians a break for Christ sake. We have suffered so much.

Do you think elections are won by being a noisy minority? How many voters do we have in Nigeria? how many people are protesting? Reminds me of all the noise gays used to make in the UK. however when a census was done, it turned out with all the noise making, they are less than 5% of the population. If you bring GEJ and Buhari/Bakare to contest against each other even tonight , GEJ would still win!

you sure don't know what negotiation is all about. You start from the extremes to get best from both sides. Both parties know that they would end up at negotiation table from start. Moreover, people makes govt. Even military have some power derivation from peoples acceptance.


OP: I never expected FGN to go back to N65, they wont, but the uprising should send signal to govt that people are watching. It should not fail.

Abacha and co bowed to NLC and the Nigerian people because they had no mandate from the people ab inition. We voted for GEJ. We gave him our mandate. so why should he bow to a mere labour union/opposition party members(like bakare) who the people rejected.  

Wasn't George Papandreou voted into power by the Greeks; wasn't Silvio voted in by the Italians? What happened?
