The Election Tribunal in Kogi State has annuled the election of Gov Ibrahim Idris of Kogi State, the annulment is based on his disqualification by INEC before the election day. |

I read about it in the Guardian. It makes an interesting reading. There were alot of irregularities involving INEC and most of the political parties. |

the story sounds confusing to me, If INEC disqualified him, how did he run for the election? who gave him a certificate of return/victory that he won the election which is required for swearing in? if INEC disqualified him, why did it take this long to figure out that simple fact? I guess we will get more information when details of the judgment emerge |

toba1909: Toba, why are you twisting the facts surrounding the annulment of the election.is it because you wanted to be the one to break the news? The election was annulled because Fmr governor Audu was wronly disqualified by INEC from contesting the election.you can ckeck this link http://www.thenewsng.com/modules/zmagazine/article.php?articleid=19643 |

The biggest judgment so far by the election petition tribunals on the April 2007 polls was delivered in Lokoja, Kogi State, yesterday, and it was very damning on the Independent National Electoral Commission (IN-EC). There is indeed bright light for Nigeria if such could sustained over another 4yrs. People will learn; you cant do rubbish and expect to get away. The evil of OBJ and Maurice Iwu is living not after them but right with them. They thought they had power and that they could take the whole nation for a ride. Right now, Murtala Nyako (PDP) of Adamawa State should be dusting his bags and packing his things. Lest we have forgotten the story of Adamawa. The AC candidate was declared unfit to run for election by INEC, this happened in about twelve hours to the election. That, I know, can never stand. Moreso that the tribunal in Benue's case has said neither EFCC, ICPC nor INEC has the powers to declare anybody unfit to stand for elections. Alao Akala (Oyo), be getting ready, Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Osun), be prepared, Olusegun Agagu (Ondo), start packing, Segun Oni (Ekiti), waste no time in packing oooo, Osareigbemen Osunbor (Edo), what are you still waiting for? Likewise the governors of Rivers and Delta. Senator Tanko Ayuba (remember him? - the army general) also had his election nullified in Borno by the election tribunal there.(http://www.tribune.com.ng/11102007/news/news1.html) Right now, I feel like singing - Satan, shame onto you ooo, all powers belong to , One can substitute "Satan" for OBJ, Iwu, INEC and all. |

this is absolute bullshit. in nigeria, there cases of malpractices without punishments. in anambra, chris uba confessed to rigging election and the gov was removed then nothing was done to the one who did the rigging and his partners in inec so how does the court then discourage others who want to get involved in rigging in the next dispensation. obj in his evil deals practically installed all the political office holders without the consent of the people. in abia, when they could not disqualify theordore orji, they used efcc to arrest him so that he will be in jail till the end of election but orji uzo kalu knowing what they know went on to win for him and today the cases for which he was held has been cancelled yet nobody is paying demurages. who know what might have happened between the gov and his godfathers. if the courts are for real, inec in all these cases shld be made to explain issues to nigerians who trusted them with so important positions which they messed up. obj on his own have a lot of explainations to make to nigerians over his role in the conduct of this shallow messed election of his. i do not believe that such decissions shld be left without punishing offenders. if the courts say, there was a rigging or any sort of mal-practice, they shld be able to tell nigerians by who and then tell us the punishments and we will see those punishments melted on the offenders so that others will learn from that. in fact, i am saying they are all fakes |
