I Was Told To Prostrate To Ooni Of Ife, I Took Mic & Said”For What? You Kept Me Waiting 3hrs” -Sowore Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has spoken about an encounter he had with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, at his palace In a video from 16:01 shared by Sahara TV, Sowore stated that there was a time he visited the palace of the Ooni of Ife and was made to wait for about three hours before the monarch eventually came out to meet him. He disclosed that when Oba Ogunwusi finally came out and sat down, people told him to go and prostrate to the monarch Sowore said he stood up, took a microphone and questioned why he should prostrate to Oba Ogunwusi after being kept waiting for 3 hours. In Sowore’s words: “The Ooni Of Ife kept us waiting for 3 or 4 hours in his palace. He now came out and he sat down. They said ‘Sowore, the Oonirisa has arrived, you should go and prostrate to him’. I said ‘For what?’. I stood up and took the microphone and said ‘You kept me here for 3 hours and you asked me to prostrate for you' Credit: @Olofofo247ng

Sowore just shot himself in the foot, and I doubt if he will recover from this politically. Did you just say you refused to prostrate for the throne of the Ooni of Ife simply because the current Ooni made you wait for him in his palace for 3 hours before he came out to attend to you? You are a disgrace to your family. Sowore, I used to like your boldness, but with reservations, because I believe that you and Peter Obi's frequent fights with the current administration are driven by selfishness and not for Nigeria's benefit. If not, both of you wouldn't be seeing Nigeria's ship sinking and still be fighting to maintain a fraudulent togetherness. Is it with this same arrogance that you're planning to rule Nigeria as president? Why is it that everyone is becoming crazy by the day? Why is it that no one is respecting the thrones of our fathers anymore? I really don't blame you. Democracy, designed by the British for us, is meant to mock our culture and traditions, and the foreign religion is meant to erase our identity. So someone like Omoyele Sowore can insult the throne of the Ooni of Ife and come out to proudly say it. Can he say that about the late queen of England or any other king over there? Can he do that in the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto? This is exactly what we're talking about. Yoruba kings need to brace up, stop following Fulani and politicians, stop attending every event, and get back their dignity. A throne you preserve is respected with values more than a throne you take out every other weekend. By the way, as much as we're trying to wake up our kings, Omoyele Sowore or any other person has no right to speak arrogantly to the throne of our forefathers. Just like what I said when people called it humility for the Ooni to almost prostrate for former President Obasanjo and others, it will have consequences, because everybody now stands the chance to disrespect Yoruba heritage, something they can't try with Fulani, let alone in Saudi Arabia. What do I even know sef? I am just an ordinary Nigerian Policewoman. |

The poster above me sounds deluded to the best of my knowledge. He left the main issue , and brought Obi into the discussion even when Obi was not with Sowore in the palace. So because Sowore refused to prostrate to Oni simply means his life will end, yeye. Instead of him to address that, he turned it into political attack , and still brought in Obi into the discussion as if vying for presidency is not within his right, or the person he is supporting has more right to be president than Obi. That is delusion at its height |

Did you go to visit him or he invited you? There's a huge difference. If you had an appointment with him and he kept you waiting, that's understandable. But if it's a visit you decided on by yourself, and you still chose to disrespect him in his home, then you're just a pathetic narcissist. |

You went to visit someone at your own leisure time, not that he invited you and you want to dictate the rules of engagement?. So much for an aspiring presidential candidate that feels everyone should dance to his tune… You shot yourself in the leg my fren ![]() |

DMCY:He is even boasting about it.... these kind of elders like Sowore is why Nigeria is fast becoming South Africa without the advancement.... basically a place of low morals and extreme crime...once again just look at the Efulefu boasting about it. |

MamaFryo:This is one of the major reasons Africa, especially Nigeria is extremely underdeveloped. We respect "elders", "leaders", "Rulers" e.t.c too much, even when they do wrong. This is the highest point of stupidity. We are too afraid to take a stand for what is upright even if it means dieing by it. This is why those whom you respect inspite the heinous evil they commit against you, they end up been bribed to sell themselves, you and your generations yet unborn for selfish interest. Yet you still respect fools. That is why criminals are empowered to be your rulers rather than men with integrity, capacity, competence and bravery - professors rig elections for garage boys, hoodloms, thieves and stupid people. I salute Sowore, one day he will be the president of a country. "....Give respect (honour) to whom respect is due...", says the holy writ. That is , not every one is due for respect , I am sure that include depraved rulers , leaders, seniors, chiefs, e.t.c |

MamaFryo:Respect is reciprocal, nobody is God to anyone. He's brave and courageous to express his grievances before the Ooni without any form of insult. Respect a child and he will honor you forever. We earn true respect in life through integrity and dignity not through force. How wish he was respected as a son, no one will tell him to the needful. A true child will show you how he feels when you disrespect him after giving you maximum honor. |

Wisdom says there are some things you don't brag about or talk about in public, this is one of them. Sowore behaves too much like a SUG president always looking for Aluta ![]() |

Obakoolex:There is time for everything. Those days when he was in the university, he could have easily got away with it...now that he is much older, it takes another dimension. What does he want the younger generation to learn from this rude and unnecessarily lousy attitude? |

MamaFryo:Exactly. He behaves like a child at times and he wants to rule a country as complex as Nigeria. |

This explains why a critic or an activist can't ever be a good leader...don't ask me why. Ask Late Tai Sholarin, Late Gani Fawehinmi, Adams Oshiomole, Dele Farotimi, Peter Obi, Late Odumegu Ojukwu, Mazi Namdi Kanu, El- Rufai, Late Fela Anikulapo and others... |
