Its not about the college it about the individual, if you are not half good, don't go to NIIT or any other traning institute. I had my A+ and CCNA @ NIIT Lag. Before registering at niit i have been fixing computers and working on small networks. 6 Likes 1 Share |

@life_style, are u therefore saying dat one has 2 have some form of ICT knowledge b4 going 2 any NIIT branch? My elder brother finished his MCSC programme with them & his experience is even worse than @ poster's. Generally speaking, NIIT is just a shadow of it's old self! 3 Likes |

@Marshal Nigeria no dey carry last naw, the 1 attended was standard, 1 standard brand new complete system/person but as life_style said, you only see it dat way if you are not somehow grounded in IT before coming, dats what they will not tell u. I am very proud I attended it, I learnt alot tho" I was a system engineer before enrollment. The problem people have is that they jump from any course to IT, its not that very easy. I did Physics just like you at EBSU but started my IT career during NYSC service year during INEC voters registration. I was part of the INEC team, I try to do exceptional things, play with gadgets, when INEC IT Engineer deployed to my zone couldn't fix some problems we were facing, I took it as my personal tasks and fixed the problems and the INEC zonal Head pleaded to retain me but i rejected. I took alot of risk experimenting with computer and other IT media, I destroyed my first two laptops, one bought with my NYSC savings but didnt regret it. you know why, i learnt alot from them and now I can fix any laptop, desktop etc, It paid off cause I earned alot of money from that and I still do today. I had gone into various areas of IT. also planning to do Masters on IT. Just like any Organisation, NIIT primary aim is to make their money while impacting the knowledge, it's left for you to determine if a particular program in NIIT is suitable for you, that's why they have program adviser. you need to have a goal and allign the program with your goal, for some people, their goal is to obtain the certificate. Maybe you didnt attend the orientation programme, I also did the MCITP, their tutors was very good (maybe b/c we were the 1st set for the center). I asked alot of questions during class cause i had some prio-knowledge , they wanted me to work with them but I rejected b/c I dont want to remain in class, I wanted to go further, learn new things. 9 Likes 3 Shares |

kess.1: Yes, they won't/can't teach you everything, you need to do some serious learning your self My ccnp will be strictly self study, NO IT ACADEMY winnie-G has said it all. 2 Likes |

@ Marshall bear in mind that most of the NIIT Centres operate thru licencee. it all boil down to the Individual/company operating the centre, maybe you need to try another centre. 1 Like |

@deribigbe Which of the courses did you undergo? And in what year? Of course "Heaven helps those who help themselves" but a training institute of any kind must have all what it takes to equip their students and not just by providing reading materials but in-depth practical training because we paid for it! NIIT is poor in terms of providing real life practicals 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Just wait till i tell my story, I registered at the iponri branch for a diploma in desktop publishing and efficiency in Microsoft office. But to my greatest surprise, i ended up teaching half of the class because i happened to know all what was being taught. Even the so called tutor of the class could not even answer most of the questions i dished out to him, NIIT, what a shame!!!!!! 2 Likes 3 Shares |

That tells u of how they are simply living in past glory! How does it help when one pays so much for an ICT programme, only to find out it's the same ineffective methods our tertiary institutions employ in their failed educational systems? It's d same "self effort" policy NIIT is practicing and message they are passing to d uninformed when they go there for ICT education. I think d problem is just an offshoot of d average Nigerian attitude to work! 1 Like |

I did mcitp in their center at festac in 2010 and it wuz a complete disaster, it was a fraud cos they practically had nothing to offer, their facilities where in shambles in short it wuz a complete wack. If I knew what I know now I would have used the 110k I spent on that rubbish for better and more profitable things. I regret stepping foot in that place. 2 Likes |

I did oracle in Osogbo branch, I'm still regretting it till today. It was when the database of one of the systems we were using crashed and the instructor could not make attempts to recover it, that was when I knew that we were just playing around with Oracle but not learning . He only taught us RMAN theoretically but he couldn't apply it. He would mostly come to class to read the materials we already had to us. He skipped so many topics and even confessed that he couldn't handle plsql. It's an experience I don't want to always recall |

Good day everyone, I am very passionate about I.T. and in fact, i've been able to teach myself html(5) , css(3), bootstrap, php, mysqli, javascript, jquery, wordpress (theme development up to the "functions.php" file) and a little bit of ASPX. I have been able to create responsive websites with and without bootstrap. I have been able to create a custom login website with mysqli and php to test my ability to manage a database. I have been able to create a custom cgpa calculator using pure javascript to test my ability to use some advanced features like the javascript create element, append and prepend, math functions, etc. these and a little more i've learnt by searching the web and reading up tutorials. But i need to make my skills a little more professional, hence i'm seeking advice from the more experienced programmers/web developers. Where can i study web development as a professional course and be awarded a degree? Thanks in advance. |
