Tethered jb is when ur iDevice off u have to boot it with pc but the untethered it will boot on whenever u switch it on back

I want to bliv u use an i4 or below, I would advice u use SNOW BREEZE for the jailbreak. You can make use of google for the necessary steps. Yes It starts up with any system as long as you have the software to boot it up.

My advice: y don't u leave it @ that 5.1.1 so you could jail break & do those things apple av restricted you from. I run 6.0 on my i5 and I don't plan on upgrading till a new Jb is out (maybe next year) *my 2cents

Well, since there's no solution to this problem I think it's time I lost this JB and upgraded to 6.1.3.
However, I need direction on how to backup my apps and songs and vids and pix before this. Could someone direct me on how to go about this? And I'd like to know if the songs and vids I didn't get from the store would still be backed up. Thanks.

No not a lost hope. The problem require u navigate to some root files and remove manually.
It will be risky doing it yourself....
I will recommend to download iLEX R.A.T or use Semi Restore to wipe ALL tweaks.... so that u won't lose ur JB

1. Navigate to /Application
2. Remove any folder named "MyWi***" *** means with or without any other words
3. Also go to /mobile/Library/Caches, search for any folder or plist with "MyWi***" that is any thing containing MyWi
4. Remove manually and respring ur phone

See if it works before doing semi-restore or applying iLEX R.A.T

Add this repo to your cydia source: hxxp://cydia.myrepospace.com/iLEXiNFO/

Check the repo and install iLEX RESTORE... This Restore your device and keep your Jailbreak.

You will see all ur repos, click edit and remove dead repo.
