President Goodluck Jonathan, on Tuesday, announced that his administration is gearing towards conducting the 2015 general election in a peaceful manner without using the police and security other agents.

Speaking in Calabar, Cross River State, at the campaign rally for the gubernatorial candidate of the People's Democratic Party(PDP) in the state, Liyel Imoke, Jonathan said: "We want to make sure that we conduct election in Nigeria without police; we want to conduct election without security people carrying guns; we want a situation where Nigerians will queue up and vote, go back home, the votes are counted and nobody is cheated so that at the end of elections, there will not be all kinds of litigation.

That is our next campaign; and God willing before 2015 elections, we will conduct elections without security carrying guns to follow us. We are disciplined people. We know we have some people that are fairly extreme but generally Nigerians are disciplined people. If we all agree to do it, we will do it; we will conduct elections in this country without security and Cross River State is one of such states that we can use as a model.

The campaign rally for Imoke and his running mate, Efiok Cobham, which took place at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, was attended by many PDP chieftains, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

While addressing the PDP supporters at the stadium, Obasanjo urged the people of the state to vote for Imoke because he has performed well in the administration of the state.

Vice President Namadi Sambo also called on the people of Cross River to give their support to Imoke in the February 25 governorship elections.

Acting governor of the state, Larry Odey, in his own speech said Imoke has been endorsed by the people to govern the state for the next four years.

Present at the campaign rally to express support for Imoke were former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senate President David Mark, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Emediora, Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma Egba and former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke.

While addressing the crowd aftter he was presented with the PDP flag by the Acting Chairman of the party, Kawu Baraje, Imoke promised to work harder to consolidate on his achievements,

Could be possible in a situation whereby employment has reachd its maximum in Nigeria dat there wil no more be youths/touts to buy with money to carry guns for a violent opposition party, with dat, security agents shld av no cause for alarm to carry guns,if they do,who would they be facing? ,the employed youths(former touts) busy working? ,NO! . So Mr president,i feel your plight sire,bt idle hands of millions of youths out there have to be filled with something worthwhile. With that a police man could even be on an high way with only a 'kondo stick' cos violence wil be 99% reduced.

How would you manage voter's list and tally their votes accurately to keep out inflations? Are you aware that in the hands of a nefarious person your cellphone can be reimaged and given multiple untrackable identities?
