Strange Money in the Church

There exists a great gulf between many of today’s church leaders and the Lord Jesus Christ. This gulf can only be compared to that which separates Lazarus and the rich man (Luke 16:26). The Bible in Ps 24:3-4 says ” Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.”
This passage unequivocally spells out God’s requirements for those who will ascend His hill or stand in His holy place. His holy hill or Mount Zion is described in Psalm 48:2 and Heb 12:2 as the city of the great King. It is the heavenly Jerusalem where there are an innumerable company of angels. Part of the requirement for fellowshipping there is having clean hands (v 4a). Having clean hands encompasses what we touch, what we hold, what we embrace etc.

This includes the purity of the money we earn, the properties we own, our riches/wealth etc. The money we as ministers and church leaders receive from our members as tithes, offerings, freewill offerings and gifts, how pure are they? Are they not strange (polluted) money? The Lord is saying that His house has become a den of robbers (Jer 7:11). He is asking the ministers and church leaders have you not been receiving tithes, offerings and gifts from obvious criminals, armed robbers, rogue bankers, thieving politicians, dishonest contractors, corrupt civil servants etc. These are people who clearly live above their means and you their minister fails to ask questions. You know that their sources of income are questionable but you feign ignorance and pretend that all is well. What about those Hammer jeeps, those Limousines, Rolls Royce that you bought or received as gifts? What do we say about those landed properties given to you or to your church? Do you not know or are you not aware that the hands of the givers are soiled, stained and filled with blood? You know but you cover it up. You support your ignoble act by quoting Scriptures out of context e.g. “the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.” What a shame! To him who know to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin (James 4:17).

This aside, what about those manipulations on your members? You manipulate the innocent and undiscerning members of your church into giving and parting away with their hard earned wages into the “Lord’s work”. You know within you that that money is not for the Lord. They are for expanding your empire. You build schools, colleges and universities with their money. You tell them it is ‘your’ school, ‘your’ college, ‘your’ university. But it’s all lies! It’s theirs yet they can’t send their children there because they cannot afford the very high fees. These schools and universities are filled with children of looters whose parents’ actions and inactions have made life unbearable for their fellow human beings. It is pathetic! While you the minister is smiling to the banks, most of your members are groaning under the pains of economic hardship due to unemployment and low wages.
What do you say about the apparent rip-off of your members to give, give and give? You tell them that the more you give, the more you get. They on the other hand because they believe you would go and borrow money, while some use their credit cards. You sell all sorts to them e.g. oil, handkerchief, Ribena, cake, etc. You write pamphlets and call them books and sell at exorbitant prices. Rather than pointing your members to the Bible you point them to your books. Let me say to all those ministers engaged in all these ungodly acts that you are closer to hell than you can ever imagine.

If you are a minister and you indulge in all or some of these practices know that your hands are filled with strange (polluted) money. That money is strange because it’s a dishonest gain. Every wealth gotten through dishonest means shall be diminished (Pro 13:11). Treasures of wickedness profit nothing but righteousness delivers from death (Pro 10:2). No matter who you are you are not on God’s holy hill but on the plain. You are far away from the kingdom of God and of our Lord Jesus Christ. You are separated from Him by a gulf. Forget about what you are known by or the number of your membership. These are not marks of a true disciple of Jesus Christ.

Repent of this wickedness and desire to be in God’s holy hill. Be bold to call questionable characters in your church to order. Be interested in knowing the sources of your members’ incomes. Question a sudden rise in wealth. Remove dishonest people from leadership positions. Stop deceiving your membership by teaching fallacy. Make your paths straight (Pro 4:26).

God bless you.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Yes very sad this site is awash with people who work for them the churches there is a massive list of people who twist the bible?

I get called crazy for telling them the truth but don't lose faith God is not blind to them he has marked them out in history?
This is why Jesus said broad is the road to destruction many will go in but the road to life is few

I. The Broad Way
Jesus warned,
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

The false teachers mentioned above, and the many like them (2 Timothy 4:3), all teach a broad theological road that supposedly leads to heaven (e.g. see some of our reports). False teachers differ as to how broad this way is, but nonetheless, they all teach a broad way. As Charles Spurgeon put it,
What is the reason why there are so many [Christian] sects in the world? Surely it must be because we don't follow the guidance of the Spirit of God. If we followed the Word of God and the will of God in all things, we should be very much more alike than we are. I do not think that even then we should all run in the same groove, for the road to heaven may be sufficiently wide to have several different paths in it, and yet shall they all be in the same way and in the same road. (Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Vol. 61, p. 514-515, Sept., 28, 1870, bold added)
Yes indeed, they are all "in the same way and in the same road." Jesus called it the "broad" road "that leads to destruction" (Matthew 7:13).
