Excuse my ignorance, but the difference between both is? Aside from the spelling, of course. 

Traditionally, pounded yam is made by
boiling yams in a pot, and once cooked, it
is placed in a mortar and pounded or
beaten into a smooth textured dough with a three-five foot tall pestle.
Thanks to modern technology, there are
now other ways of preparing poundo yam.
This involves yam been processed into a
dried powder either by sun drying yam or
commercially using desiccating machines.
All you need to do is sprinkle the powder
into a pot of boiling water and stir the
mixture until you obtain your desired
texture, then you allow this to cook for a
few minutes.

To be honest, pounded yam is a lot better than poundo yam. Poundo yam is much easier to make, but na pounded yam carry first. And this is coming from someone who used to pound yam every Sunday afternoon, and atleast twice during the week.

Most definitely pounded yam. The difference is in the naturality of the texture. Buh u wont catch me wif a mortar and pestle though, pounding yam is way too stressful.

I prefer poundo yam cos it is lighter than pounded yam.
I can eat poundo yam almost everyday.

There is nothing like the real thing after two years of eating all this crap when i eat the original pounded yam nobody tell me the difference

Pounded yam, because I consider it fresh.

It is very interesting that people do not realize that poundo yam is not yam but potato mixed with flour and other stuff.

if it is not panadol, it cannot be panadol. Pounded yam is the real one, poundo is just flour and chemicals that taste like pounded yam. I prefer pounded yam, but offcourse Poundo gives me the feeling that am eating pounded.

Why go thru all d stress of pounding the yam when the end product will be the same as using the poundo yam floor. Sometimes, we give ourselves unnecessary stress because of mere illusions. Anyway, those that have the time and the strength should continue with their pounded yam, as for me poundo yam is good to go. Just few minutes and food is ready

poundo yam and pounded yam are two different things. Of course, pounded yam is better.

poundo yam is not 100% yam. it is mixed with cereal or whatever flour. If it is not pounded yam, it can never be pounded yam

Being an original ekiti-man, nature dictates I should love the original pounded yam with with the sweat of the pounders.

But then, I have been dissapointed several times with all those unexpected lumps you encounter while swallowing  

I know some pounders do get it right  .  . .but even they miss some spots at times.

Having said that, I miss my grandma for village , she will mix the yam with plantain before pounding . .

So . . .

Poundo yam kor omiyam ni I don't like the artificial stuff at all I still prefer pounded yam gan gan to that stuff called omiyam mtcheeeeeew
