A Long, And Dangerous?, Trip From Abuja To Chad by mcarter85: 6:15am On Oct 26, 2007
I need to get to Chad, and I was hoping to fly into Abuja and travel by ground to the border with Chad (which would save A LOT of money).  But since I am a white American who has never been to the area, I am afriad that I will be VERY susceptible to deception and robbery.

I have already spoken to a few Nigerians about this, and they advised me to not attempt the trip.  But I was hoping to get some more opinions on it.  Is there any reliable public transportation?  Are there any reliable private companies that do transportation like that?  What about police checkpoints?  I've never bribed anyone in my life before, and I'm not sure I would be good at it wink

Any help on this issue will be well appreciated.

I joined the forum just to ask this question, although I read some of the posts and greatly enjoyed the intelligent discourse.  I particularly liked the disucssion on gun control and firearms in Nigeria.

Air Afiqiyah Airlines flies from Tripoli to Chad. So you can fly from Abuja to Kano (in Nigeria) then from Kano to Tripoli by Air Afriqiyah and then to Chad. I couldnt think of any other route by Air. Alternatively you can fly straight to Chad via Tripoli
