Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the sacking of manager Martin Jol following the club's Uefa Cup defeat by Getafe.Reports swept around White Hart Lane during the match but his departure was not confirmed until later on Thursday.

NOT SUPRISED! his side was tipped to break into the top four this season ahead of arsenal by another sacked coach jose morinho who fortunately finished first in the sacking order. any way,good for jol,he finished third in that list behind his former chelsea and bolton counterparts. Juande Ramos has signed a four-year deal to become the new head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, replacing Martin Jol who was sacked on Thursday. Ramos, 53, resigned as Sevilla coach on Saturday morning and Spurs have asked Leeds if they can invite Gus Poyet to work as Ramos's assistant. Ramos said: "It is a squad any coach would be excited to work with. There is potential to achieve great things." Newspaper reports suggest he will be paid up to £6m a year by Spurs.
