…Says ‘I want to travel abroad’
LAGOS- Amid tight security at the airport, a young lunatic, Monday, beat all the security agencies at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and entered into the tarmac with the intention of boarding a flight to Europe.

Vanguard gathered that the man, whose identity could not be identified at press time, broke the glasses of the boarding gate at the airport and entered into the tarmac.

It was further gathered that as soon as he gained entrance into the tarmac, he was said to be shouting on top of his voice that he wanted to travel to Europe.

“I want to go to abroad; I want to go to Europe. Please give way for me to go,” he shouted repeatedly.
The screaming of the man was said to have attracted some aviation personnel on the tarmac who thought he was a terrorist and scampered for safety while some of them called the attention of security officers attached to the airport.
After a while, the combined team of security agents who he had earlier evaded apprehended him and quickly took him away from the tarmac.

The security personnel later announced that he was a lunatic who found himself at the airport.
It was later gathered that no sooner than the lunatic was apprehended he was detained straight away at a police station within the airport complex.

The General Manager, Public Affairs of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN) Mr. Akin Olukunle who confirmed that incident in a telephone interview with our re[porter noted that the person in question was a mad man who strayed into the airport.

Olukunle emphasised that he had since been arrested and handed over to the police for further investigation.
He explained that if it could be ascertained that the man in question was really a mad man that the only thing the security operatives could do was to take him to the rehabilitation centre for treatment.

He said, “There was truly an incident today at the Lagos Airport, but the man arrested was a lunatic who was shouting on top of his voice that he wanted to travel out of the country by all means. But, he was immediately overpowered by the security operatives attached to the airport”

“After investigation, and if confirmed that he is really a mad, he will be taken to a rehabilitation centre.” He added.
