realdentist: The infection could pose more risk to your baby than the drugs. So far I saw no evidence of contra indication in early pregnancy online. I'd advice you to take your Drs recommended dosage. Good luck. 1 Like |

mitchyy:Congratulations to all July mamas. Finally let me pay my BS debt My pregnancy was a smooth one,no morning sickness et all. First Edd was June 28,I went for ANC on the said day, there was no sign of contractions (I didn't know what they felt like then). I was scheduled for induction by the end of that week. On the said day, I refused to go for the induction, dh and I had decided to wait it out. Fast forward to my second Edd which was July 14,few days to it,I experienced what is called PROM. I called my consultant to inform her she told me to relax but report to the hospital if the leaks becomes heavier. On the night of the 14th my condition was the same,so I took about 90 minutes walk with dh.Friday morning, I felt some mild contractions, I was so excited and my evening it was becoming stronger,so we left for the Hospital some minutes to 12. On getting there, I told the nurses I'm ready to deliver but was not taken serious. I was checked and was 1cm gone.I was told to do some exercise, and sleep because it's going to be a long day. I wasn't happy about the long day part, anyways as I exercised, I listened to the songs I had selected on my phone for that purpose. About 2 hours later, water was gushing out,I called their attention to it and was given a sanitary towel. Some minutes later the contractions were becoming unbearable, minutes later I vomited after that I visited the loo and saw blood in the towel. I raised alarm quickly and was taken to the delivery room,oh the experience inside there was mighty, to cut the long story short our blessed daughter was birthed 5 am Saturday morning. To God be the glory. 27 Likes |

My Post natal Story-(dedicated to all mothers who lost their lives before, while and after giving birth, may their soul rip Amen) I'm challenged to write this because I notice that much is said on pregnancy and labour but the only thing I have heard about post natal is losing baby weight. Once you gave birth you are on your own and have to rely on instinct and other mothers experience. To the glory of God I gave birth on the 5th of July. Once the delivery is over and after an hour I was able to get up. They confirmed vital signs,I had a bath and took my baby to post natal ward. Few hours later I started feeling pain and was given diclofenac to use rectally. Babies don't come with manual but I know it's time I picked up my baby and breastfeed. Nobody said anything about putting baby to breast in one hour or skin to skin. I was happy baby's Latching was strong but was disappointed when no milk flowed. 12hrs after birth I had to give LO a solution of teaspoon of glucose and 30mils of water. The next day I was discharged still no milk, the nurses blamed me for not trimming and cleaning my tips, other mothers encouraged me to take pap, tea, lots of water etc that it will flow. The first few days following my baby's birth I feel a lot a pain and pressure that increases by the day. I was told to be strong that every mother passed through same. And worse still no milk. Advices were coming left right and center and I was faced with to give or not to give formula. My mother arrived on the third day and took over. It was pressure left right and center ,I was bearing pains as adviced both in the abdomen and down below and also under pressure of no milk. I had no other plan than to feed my baby exclusively. My baby cries all the time and hubby puts pressure. I tried everything including taking stout and palm wine still no milk. Then came occasional red blood with clots week 2 postpartum. I reported to the hospital and doc adviced I go home and observe. It was never mentioned that red blood should not be seen after one week of birth. 6 Likes |

Part 2 After my 2weeks hospital visit on 20th July I adviced myself not to visit the hospital or complain again due to the way the doctors treated me. I was berated as a foolish mother who doesn't want her baby to suck. Only the nurses offered little encouragement. All the people I talked to always think it's a first time mum syndrome. The next day being Thursday 21st morning I saw another red blood with clot,in the evening I was leaning over the gas cooker(couldn't stand straight for reasons nobody could explain ) I had a gush of blood that filled my pad, went to loo and the clots fell out,3 of them. The next day I was back to UPTH. The female consultant sent me to post natal ward and sent a female and a male senior reg to attend to me. It took 1hr 30mins looking for my folder and was finally found at labour ward. I narrated my birth story to the Drs and after going through the birth report they said their was no mention of problem with placenta or manual placenta delivery as I narrated to them. I was sent on a quick scan and retained placenta was confirmed. Next they sent my DH to buy some drugs required for MVA. By the time we are done, the 2 doctors had left and handed over to another senior Dr and a younger Dr. After all protocol and charging us for a procedure that was as a result of their mistake, the mva was done. I was told to go home immediately the oxytocin drip is finished. The drip was even rushed because it was wrongly pierced and some was pouring by the side. My dd cried all day. We got home 7.30pm. The next day I started experiencing new pain instead of feeling better. I was encouraged to rest. On Monday I complained to another dr over the phone and was told to come to labour ward if there is bleeding. But there was none so I stayed home. On Tuesday 26th July 2016,the day God gave me a second chance to life, I woke up 1.14am to attend to my crying baby and it was blood every where. 8 Likes |

Part 3 I was on the floor while the blood keep pumping out, mum and DH were confused. We used tissue, pad, wrappers etc putting pressure to stop the bleeding. DH woke our neighbours while mum pack something for baby. They called the Dr of the nearest private hospital and he was in. Luckily he is a gynecologist and was even part of my delivery team. They were waiting at our arrival. DH carried me to the car with help of another man. I was wheeled straight to theatre on arrival, bleeding was controlled and another mva done. The blood clot that came out was almost as large as 200naira tissue roll. More retain placenta was removed. I was stitched again of tears that was neglected and those that reopened. I had to do anoda scan to confirm that the place is clear. That was another lesson,I was supposed to do a scan after the first mva. It's over a week now and I'm gradually recovering after losing a lot of blood. Milk flow is still a work in progress. I sincerely thank God for my life and I hope my story will help someone out there. There are no two mothers ou there,God pls help we mothers to live and raise our children in Jesus name. Amen 73 Likes |

Amhappy, thanks for sharing your story. Let me also drop mine, might be helpful .After I had my son at 37weeks due to HBP in September 2015,we were discharged after 4 days as we were declared fit and well to go home. At least, my BP was in check. Two days after discharge from the hospital, one of my legs began to swell uncontrollably, this was strange to me as my BP was almost okay.i did some research on google and every symptom I had was pointing to DVT(Deep Vein Thrombosis)-Blood clot.My aunt and hubby kept telling me to raise my legs but I knew it wasn't the solution. The next day, i dressed up and left for the hospital. On getting there,my doctor attributed it to my BP issues even though I told her it was only on one leg and prescribed Monoduretics for me.Immediately she finished and gave me the prescription, I asked her if this wasn't an issue of blood clot. You need to see the way she jumped up from her seat and looked at me. She quickly called for my case file .It was then I realized that I wasn't given a particular injection according to her after my operation. She summoned the head nurse, I don't know what she told her, but she came out apologizing to me.I was told to take aspirin immediately(exactly what I had read on the internet).Imagine if I hadn't done any research on my own as i read DVT could also lead to Pulmonary embolism which could be fatal. Few days later, the swollen leg became okay and I felt better.Let's endeavour to read at least to gain some knowledge. We never know when we might be saving our own lives. 25 Likes |
