Yeske!:
Equipment should go for second person singular-- it-- but 'all our' is third person plural--they-- . So the sentence is wrong IMHO.

So what should it be?
Re: Is This Sentence Wrong? by jerryben12: 1:23pm On Mar 18, 2012
1. All equipment have a six-month manufacturer's warranty.

2. All our equipment have a six-month warranty.

For executive writing, always spell out numbers (1 to 10).

Very Correct. Now tell us why u ask.
Re: Is This Sentence Wrong? by joelala(m): 1:53pm On Mar 18, 2012
the sentence is absolutely correct. equipment is more like a general or summarized name for electrical gadgets, so adding up *s* is totally wrong. its more like you saying "all our staffs are from the south" which is wrong cos the word staff is plural. eg,

1, cattle
2, staff
3, Rodent etc.

Lord_Reed: All our equipment have a six (6) month manufacturer's warranty.

Is there anything wrong with the above sentence?

All our equipment have a six (6) month ''manufacturerS' warrantIES''.

The above sentence is very correct but only but it has just a mistake which all of you did not take note of. Equipment is an uncountable noun so the plural form remains the same. The only mistake with the sentence is the word manufacturer's with the apostrophe before "s" It is obvious that all the equipment can't be from the same manufaturer so the plural form of equipment must apply to manufaturer as well which means it should be manufacturers' with apostrophe after "S". The formular used is simply referred to (V1=V2 or N1=V1) verb1=Verb2 or the word or words in the subject position (either nouns, verbs, collective pronous) determine/s the form of verb usage. Pls correct me if am wrong.

whenever"all"is used the noun & verb folowin it must be in plural.i.e all our equipments have...
alternatively u can say"every of our equipment has..."
2nd part:
if"all","six month manufacturer's waranty" is apropriate.if"every","a six month manufacturer's waranty"is apropriat.

It's grammatically correct just missing a hyphen between the words "six" and "month".

Each of our equipment has a (6)six month manufacturer's warranty. - where all are from the same manufacturer.
Each of our equipment has a (6)six month manufacturers' warranty. - where all are not from the same manufacturer.

D sentence is correct.

victor1: Each of our equipment has a (6)six month manufacturer's warranty. - where all are from the same manufacturer.
[s]Each of our equipment has a (6)six month manufacturers' warranty[/s]. - where all are not from the same manufacturer.

The first sentence in bold is correct but the second is not.

A single item (implied by each in the statement) is not likely to come from more than one manufacturer.

Hence, I will posit that whether you are referrring to each item of equipment or to all, or from one manufaturer or many, the first sentence is perfectly ok

I am certain of all these!

Lord_Reed: All our equipment have a six (6) month manufacturer's warranty.
Is there anything wrong with the above sentence?

Equipment is an uncountable, singular noun, and must be treated as such.

The right words are: All our equipment have has a 6-month (or six-month) manufacturer's warranty.

ayo jango: @ poster ur sentence is perfect.

Note: when u use a number before a noun, verb etc d next word must b in singular.

A 2 day course

A 4 man panel

A 3 course meal

There should be a dash (-) between the number and the noun, for example, a 4-man panel.

nakedall: First write it in your town language then translate it, otherwise, you will continue to chase rat for another 51 years.

Effective translation is NOT achieved through that means.

@Maclatunji
Equipment must always take a singular verb.

It depends. But in this case have is correct

You are right Bro

@Maclatunji
Equipment must always take a singular verb.

You are very wrong, when an uncountable noun is used in the subject form of a sentence, the form at which it's being used will definitely determines the verb that will precede such. Therefore "have" is the correct form of verb to precede "All our equipment"

On this note, the perfect form of the sentence should have been; "All our equipment have a six (6) month manufacturers' warranty." instead of "All our equipment have a six (6) month manufacturer's warranty." because it's crystal clear that all the equipment can not be from the same manufacturer.

maclatunji:

It depends on what you are trying to say.

1. All equipment have a (6)six-month manufacturer's warranty.

2. All our equipment have a (6)six-month warranty.

These two expressions are better in my opinion (grammatically). Remember, warranties have legal connotations as well, you might want to consider that in your analysis.

Not too bad, but two quick points.

1) Writing "six (6)..." or "6 (six)..." is a superfluity most common in Nigerian writing. In English language, it is deemed sufficient to spell out zero to nine, and write 10 and above in figures only. The repetition is unnecessary (unless, of course, you are working for a lawyer who is paying you top naira to murder the English language).

2) If you remove the hyphen and write "six month..." in your two sentences above, they would be just as fine (grammatically).

I would say the sentence in op is fine once you treat it of the six-6 malady.

On the question of whether equipment takes an "s", the word is generally an uncountable noun. While "equipments" is an accepted Scrabble word and it is possible to rationalise its use under certain circumstances, it is usual to treat it as uncountable and write it without the "s" and unless you are a genius, you should stick to that.

@MyJoe
The figure in bracket is not unnecessary. It is required in executive summaries.
Re: Is This Sentence Wrong? by MyJoe: 2:22pm On Mar 19, 2012
"Executive summaries"? That is a valid point, particularly for monies. Usually, when writing in a certain field, you try to understand the conventions and follow them. The repetition is quite unnecessary in everyday writing - much like the "only" written after the amount is conventional in a cheque but quite unnecessary in your everyday prose.

It's very correct. The Englishman uses the word 'equipment' for sing./plu. Again, since u used 'All', 'have' is correct. U'r good to go.

I bet you didn't know that all, meaning everything, takes a singular verb, but all, meaning everybody, takes a plural verb. Therefore, the all in "All our equipment," must necessarily take a singular verb. All our equipment is........ (is standard English).

Examples:
All is lost (all means everything).
All are present (all means everybody).

I get what you are trying to prove but your analysis as regards the above sentence is wrong. Most of the time you don't analyse the meaning of a word ordinarily. Grammatically, you must look at the contextual usage of "equipment" with the word "ALL" Equipment in this sense is used as plural form and not a singular form and therefore it must be preceded by a plural verb which is "Have" and not "Has"

If I have the time, I will come up with more examples
