Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Local Content have commended Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Limited for the high level of local input in the vehicles made at its plant in Nnewi, Anambra state.

The lawmakers who were at the plant located in Uru village, Nnewi, for an on-the-spot assessment of the vehicle production process and verification of the level of the local content in Innoson automobiles, said they were impressed with the various stages of manufacturing witnessed during the visit.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the committee, Hon. Asita Honourable, said that they were happy to discover that more than half of the auto components were sourced locally, and urged Nigerians to patronize the company.

“The Innoson motor plant at Nnewi is a huge honour to Nigeria.” he noted. “What is going on at Nnewi is an amazing feat which needs to be encouraged. This is not an assembly plant, but a full production site where Nigerian auto engineers are exhibiting their skills. We saw them and felt extremely impressed that such marvelous feat is existing in our country.”
He, therefore, stated that the committee would support Innoson by using its buses in carrying out official activities. “The high standard of Innoson Vehicles has made us to endorse it for our jobs. We have resolved to make it an official vehicle for the assembly.”

He also praised the vision of the company Chairman, Chief, Dr. Innocent Chukwuma OFR, saying that his ingenuity has added value to manufacturing sector.
Innoson makes a wide range of vehicles at the plant, including buses of various sizes (mini, shuttle, intra- and inter-city), refuse compactors, SUVs and many others.

“Chief Chukwuma is indeed a mega industrialist. Apart from the motor plant he established, he has plastics, motorcycle tyre and tubes industries as well. Certainly the multiplier effects of all these in employment sector is overwhelming and such a man requires government support. He is a true Nigerian with patriotic zeal. He has demonstrated that through the establishment of all these plants. Of course, we the Lawmakers would not hesitate in assisting him to achieve greater result.”

Thanking the visiting Lawmakers, Chukwuma promised to make the prices of new automobiles cheaper in Nigeria, if he is adequately encouraged in his venture to produce good quality and affordable vehicles, making use of substantial local input.

Just last week or so the FG awarded X amount of billions to the senators for new cars

WHY ON EARTH ARE DOES CARS NOT FROM INNOSON ? and we call this current crop of people as leaders.

As it is now, the Oil sector in Nigeria has been turned upside down, thanks to Alison, GEJ and co

Mumu that want to improve oil sector without building a refinery, It is like wanting to improve your football skills without a football to train on.

Now we have an industrialist such as Innoson, ready to stop Nigerians or Africans from importing 99% of their vehicles outside the continent. This mumus are not patronising him.

It is a big pity that Innoson is in Nigeria, I bet other countries like Egypt and co would have jumped at the opportunity.

Innoson, don't worry Nigerians are behind you.

You have some point my brother. But am sure this is the beginning of good things to come. If the Nigeria does not want to move forward industrialization to compete with Asian Tigers (Japan and China), then SE will not be deterred and more especially Anambra the home of the biggest private auto plant in West Africa will never be discouraged by the antics of people that does not want the good of Ndigbo.

Nigeria is one of the very few countries on earth where the Government is against its very own citizens and even gives expatriates more honor than Nigerians.

If the government is serious at supporting local contents and Industrialization, companies like Innoson are meant to be given a concession grace I.e, 5 years of all materials imported for their production 100% custom duty free and even construct or support in constructing a mini power plant to help a the general power shortage across the country.

You people talk of being impressed with the works innoson is doing yet billions are spent by the 3 arms of government yearly purchasing Peugot, Toyota. Mecerdez Benz and KIA brands.

When they see a foreign investor of even Vietnam citizenship, they will be falling over themselves to support the company and buying into such company with ridiculous amounts, only for those ones to evade tax, maltreat employees of Nigerian heritage, launder all the money back to their country and even defraud the government.

What sort of leaders have we always had that keeps turning their back against their very own country man?

^^^Exactly!!! I remember once when Deawoo and Kia vehicles were derided. You can now drive them with pride, and the companies (esp' Deawoo) have grown to be world-wide behemoths in construction and engineering. Same thing with LG electronics.

From little acorns, great Oaks grow.

What Innoson vehicles need (at least in Nigeria and West Africa) is to be supported and encouraged by their own, for the rest of the world to accept them.

If it is tribalism that is stopping the Fg from investing in Innoson then Nigeria is one messed up country. Making Anambra our technology hub in Nigeria or Africa would not kill us. really !!!!

I would be honest with you, the FG was thinking of creating jobs but Innoson an industrialist is waiting to be trapped and the FG is just praising them and not helping them out.

What would it take Nigeria government to reduce her imported cars by 50 % so more people would patronise her. It is a shame that it is only in Nigeria industrilist beg her government rather than the other way around

Bluetooth, there is no difference in Innoson motors and KIA etc

I remember not too long ago, people use to say made in China was fake. Look at china today.

Let nurture our individual potential so we don't all suffer together.

That is one thing that is waiting to happen soon. Until Nigerian govt does that, Nigerian govt may not be able to grow an economy that will join the world in 20-20-20.

You are equally right when you said that there no difference btw IVM (Innoson), Kia, Daewoo and rest of them, Because I have entered one its buses from Awka to Onitsha, its a well padded and comfortable bus, with freezing AC. I think one may not be wrong when you compare Innoson Hummer Bus to Toyota Hummer Bus.

how about making passenger cars that will be durable and fuel efficient and below 1 m naira for a start , rather than sit some where and wait your haters to create a good business climate and patronise you, upto 0.1 million private cars are bought in nigeria yearly innoson can corner 30 perct of that with good rengineering of the passenger car business , the same way he did for byke business
