My girlfriend came home one day and my name was tattoed in the small of her back. I went through shock, disbelief, even anger. I'm cool with it now, KINDA. I mean, I can't take it out. Can't afford expensive laser surgery. She'll have to wait till I'm impossibly rich. My problem with it was this. What am i going to tell our kids when they want their own tattoo. I don't feel comfortable with the thought of my teenage son or daughter being tattoed everywhere (who knows though, fashion will be very different in 18 years!). But now they can just say, "Mom has one!" And when HER mother sees it! |
Re: Would You Get A Tattoo? by ojd(m): 11:12pm On Mar 24, 2006 |
Ur girlfriend getting ur name on her back, to me goes to show that she loves and appreciates you. I once had my girl's face tattoed on my shoulder |
Re: Would You Get A Tattoo? by Seun(m): 11:16pm On Mar 24, 2006 |
Before my girlfriend goes to tattoo my name on her back, she should ask me what I feel about it. I don't understand these ideas that surprises are good; they are not. Before you go and make a stupid sacrifice, first of all make sure that it's a sacrfice that your 'love' will appreciate! Most relationships don't last as long as tattoes anyway, so it's stupid. I hate the idea; why should a girl go and mutilate her body for no reason? Take this: Original thread: What Do You Think About Getting Tattoos? |

I don't agree with u Davidylan that tatoo is not our culture becos some states in Nigeria give their people traditional marks. Traditional marks are tatoos anyways. it just depends on what design u choose . I love tatoos and i av a little tatoo on my back. Really kool |

with all due respect, o think tattoo makes one look rebellious and irresponsible.would u get one? Not all tattoo's makes one look rebellious and irresponsible, u know? Sure, i'll like to have a tattoo on my body especially on my arm, the logo of superman looks cute and probably a teddy bear or something little and u know just good not like a big snake or scorpion or all those wild one's especally the one's on bikers in America or on wrestlers or on Vin Diesel. There are a lot of tatto's that are very moderate looking. I can surely get a tatto gurl and still look responsible.

I think that tattoos look bad on MOST people. Bad as in irresponsible, tacky, cheap, and childish. A small minority (maybe 5%) of tattoo wearers look "good" the rest look bad or just "blah" like "wonder why he/she got that, but, whatever". I always wonder about the meaning behind it. I mean why do you want a Tasmanian devil on your ass, "FIRE" written on you ankle or a heart on your arm. It can also detract from a ladies femininity. Ladies, please no tattoos on your arm or breast! The best place for a lady to get a tattoo is the small of her back. The skin there usually doesn't stretch (during pregnancy etc.) and can be covered up w/o any hassle for interviews etc. I used to be "into" tattoos but I never got one b/c here the best tattoo artists are expensive. I wanted to have "C'est la vie" tattooed across my right hip! What'd'ya think that'd look like? But, for now I'm into henna b/c it's not permanent and less expensive. I feel I can be more daring b/c it'll eventually come off so I don't have to think "Will I outgrow this?" and "What if it looks bad?" and "How can I remove this?" |

Re: Would You Get A Tattoo? by roflmao: 12:44am On Mar 25, 2006 |
Tattoos is damn sure our shyt! We own that shyt together with males wearing earring, beads and lots of them shyt these western cats do nowadays. The difference is the reason behind these kind of stuff. Our fathers in the old days did them usually for family tradition, heritage or position held within the village. But the West has taken it and turned it into fashion and other sorts of meaningless(from my point of view) ideas. Funny thing is when the europeans came to Africa and saw us these stuffs they called us barbaric but hundreds of years later they are doing it to look 'cooool'. Kinda makes me wonder exactly who's advanced and who isn't? I personally wouldn't get one for fashion or just to look 'cool'. My grandma's got a few on her body and so does her family members. If I'm asked to get one for that reason then I may otherwise heeeell naw! But that's where I stand. I don't generally do stuffs like that for no damn good reason. |

Personally , I don't care about getting tattos , its just that like with everything there is a limit where you have to stop. Like I wont mind 2 -4 tattos but when it goees to 5-9999999 tattos then its a problem. As for the main question would I get a tatto ?? HELL NO I am a lady and being a lady u go though so much natural pain and y would i want to add the pain of a tatto , that I will probably hate later. Also me being cheap, Y would i waste the money when i can get a new hair weave |
