News reaching us from Covenant University has it that the varsity authorities have barred students from wearing the Shamballa Bracelet. Shamballa bracelets are a symbolic hand ornament with links to Buddhism.
The bracelets serve as a reminder to an ancient Buddhist prophecy which foretell a time when the 25th Kalki King will emerge from Shamballa to save the human race from war and the dark forces of the world and usher in a worldwide Golden Age.
It is unclear at this point if the reason(s) for banning the wearing of the bracelet has any connection to the Buddhist prophesy or if the school authority is worried about the band's connection to Buddhism as a religion. What is clear though is that there are almost certainly no Buddhist in Covenant University and the reasons why students seem to have a knack for the bracelet is because it has become a fashion trend seen on the likes of American rappers, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne.
Other fashion items and accessories banned in Covenant University are Denim Jeans, bogus earrings, leather pants, mobile phones, "worldly" CDs, laser pointers, fashion/hiphop magazines, colored hair, Afro hair, mini skirts and a whole range of myriad outfits
