[size=14pt]Senate summons petroleum minister over abandoned N20B project[/size]

The Senate is to invite the Minister of Petroleum resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke and the executive secretary of the Petroleum Training Development Fund, Mr Muttagha Darma over the abandonment of building projects valued at over N20 billion at the Petroleum Training Institite (PTI).

The duo will appear before the Senate Committee on petroleum resources downstream to explain why building projects worth over N20 billion have been abandoned at Petroleum Training Institite (PTI), Effurun-warri in Delta state.

On an oversight tour of PTI, the committee members were stunned to discover that fifteen projects in the institution worth over N20 billion appeared to have been abandoned.

They discovered that the projects have been on-going for five years while some have been awarded, cancelled outright and have not been re-awarded since then.

The Legislative arm has never been devoid of corruption. I wont be surprised once again if we witness yet another mud-slinging by both Diezani Madueke and the Senate committee. The senate probes only crop up whenever a Minister or Director General has refused to settle the Senators. The Senate probes have long become legalized means of extortions by the legislators.

most of these probes and summons is now becoming a travelling circus.If a senator sees a pothole in a federal road,he hurries to call a probe so that he will get free press and his constituents will tink dat he is representing.
I belive that there must b mechanisms for any issue of not too much magnitude to b resolved without resorting to these probes
