The story is indeed saddening but more saddening is reading some response here which are more of banter of a gravely ill ignoramus! I hope no body in his sane sense would attribute the boys condition to God wanting to inflict punishment on the parent for practicing what is acceptable in their religion? As this will leave whatever religion the person practices a huge joke! Anybody would ask why did God punish the boy for crimes his parents committed? In any case those attributing this to inbreeding are grossly mistaken, inbreeding by itself does not cause the problem but rather inbreeding increases the likelihood of such congenital defects. This is to say that simply because two cosines marry does not automatically means their child will be born defective rather it means if their families have some sort of genetic defects, there is increased chance that they will born a child with such defects. Now they are many possible ways that could have lead to this development, it could have been environmental factors that causes this or parental factors like I indicated earlier! In any case the people might want to ponder why animals do not generally have such defects despite their continuous intra family relationship? May God show mercy on the boy and solve his problem.
