You must be high to say Pirlo was rubbish. The role is called regista, they are not expected to be typical DMF but to dictate the play from deep by being quality with the ball with delightful passes. Alonso and Pirlo were DON in this role unlike those three that do basic stuff. There is a reason Pirlo and Alonso were recognized by football governing body. Bousquet played in a dominant Barca team for years and never made fifa 11.

Basics like short and side way pass. Spanish coach then was just maintaining that Barca dominance hence the inclusion of Bousquet, meanwhile Alonso was the real DM in that team, his tackle, long and unexpected passes from DM was delightful to watch. Bousquet was just doing his short, back and side way passes for the team as usual. We have three types of players in a team; the influentials/impactful ones, the artistic/luxury type and the ok/average. Watch football, do eye test and not just stats because stats can be deceiving.

Alonso was even the worst. Alonso tended to dwell on the ball for his clubs and he made quite of unforced errors and gave the ball away unecessarily. He didn't have the trait elite midfielders had such as being press resistant same with Carrick. Once you close him down all his composure goes out of the window. He was the weakest of all the Spanish midfielders technically.
