TEARS IN MY EYES AS I WATCHED NIGERIANS PROTEST AGAINST THE PROBE PANEL’S REPORT | PICTURES

Posted By Japh On April 24th, 2012 09:19 AM

Right now on Shehu Shagari Road, Central Area Abuja, a hired crowd is marching to the National Assembly. They had police escorts and were dressed in white shirts, mostly denim pants and red face caps. The shirts and caps were branded. They had strong protection from police and are obstructing traffic. They were in a jubilant mood and had drums and trumpets to accompany their songs. When I saw the crowd at first, my spirit took a leap of joy thinking some people had gathered themselves in no time to show solidarity to the cause of the people by protesting the corruption of the subsidy regime but I alas I saw the banner and my heart got broken as it came down shattering on the realities before my eyes.

Fellow Nigerians, if this were genuine protesters who prefer to force the hands of the government to do something about corruption and mismanagement, they’d be battling soldiers and zombie-esque police men. If you ever had a doubt we are a country in bondage, these pictures will either free those doubts or get you even more perplexed about our nation. The poverty is high, there is unemployment and it is not difficult to hire a bunch of youths from the trillions of naira stolen.

After taking the pictures, I cried. I hate crying but this time many realities of the battle ahead dawned on me. We are at war and I am ready to fight. The cabal is fighting back, are we going to sit down, tweet, Facebook, blog, broadcast and watch? Or will we get ready for our own protest!

I keep wondering why people still lament about our situation,a simple look at the person we call president should be enough pointer that we haven't seen anything yet.

The way things are done in this country is beyond a simple analogy.
How can this kind of protest be allowed to take place, while in Lagos a park was cordoned off.
Big shame on those in government.

True.

We will need to suffer a little bit more though. People are not ready, even those who are well informed are still finding excuses for these looters. We never suffer reach.

Why are you all angry at this pix? Don't we have advocate for GEJ right here in this Nairaland despite his glaring gross incompetency!!! Are we blind to the fact that some group are already advocating for his come back in 2015 despite he has not been able to achieve anything till now? As i would always say - Our leaders are not our problem, "WE" are our problem !!!!

Unbelievable, how much did they pay those fools that motivated them to sell their future and well being of their children to Alison-Maduekwe? Wonders shall truly never going to end in this country,we will continue to suffer until we all wake up to fight because sitting and complaining will certainly yield nothing.

I'm not his spokesperson, but if I understand yorke's view, what he's inferring is that even the youth who we believe should be tired of the whole mess -up our country has gotten into, have instead of standing on the right, but sold their future to the politicians.

So, maybe he believes that in actual fact, nobody cares about the Country anymore - and everybody just wants to grab his own piece of the 'National Cake' and move on.

Anyway, I don't belong to that group. I want this country to be sanitized of Corruption and I doubt if GEJ can do this. To the folks who did this shameful protest, I wonder if they even read the report at all.

Nigeria, we hail thee.
