I design and sew too. I would love to have my own brand one day but for now, I have set it aside to finish my degree in uni and pick it up after.

To be a good designer, you do not just draw, any one can draw. You look for inspiration. There are so many things you can get inspiration from which you can interpret into amazing drawings. An inspiration can be interpreted into loads of drÀwings.

Amazing. How did you start out i.e. learn to sew, etc?

Ishsoph: Though a science student i have always had a thing with fashion. Used to design shirts and trouser even d jean i wear. Sometimes i sale them after wearing it for d first time due to pressures from fellow student. At a time, I started commercializing it. Recall taking cultural events in contract, burial uniforms and weddings(made all d suits won by my lecturer and his men in suits on his wedding day). Even as a secularly employed guy, I still design and make cloths for myself and colleaque and their acquaintances. Makes me proud to stand uniquely in any occasion and beams with smile when poeple approach me to want to know my tailor/designer and i say am the one. used to like the surprises in their facial expressions. Wish i can give it fulltime!

Nice. I attended an apparel/ textile industry forum organized by the FADAN ( fashion designers association of Nigeria) in collaboration with NEPC (Nigerian export promotion council), and it was suggested since FADAN is the umbrella body of fashion designers, all stakeholders should register with the organization in other to save the industry from the foreigners. Who are already trying to do it. U can get more info at the NEPC office, 13/15 ladino oluwole street, apapa, Lagos or google NEPC and get their contacts at all the states in nigeria. I have actually made a couple and that first one in the picture.

Through trial and error,n I bought and tested silver satin and jersey fabrics. The jersey worked for the under-dress but the satin was iffy.
