Any Blender 3d Users Around? by orbgoblin: 1:06pm On May 23, 2012 |
Stopped using blender 3d in 09 due to some work I had to do and I've just recently picked up interest in doing it all over again but the interface on its latest version is a lot different from what I used to know. Would be really nice to have other blender 3d enthusiasts around to relate with..... Holla!!! |

Yo! I use blender (currently using 2.63). Do you have any works? I've got loads but I'm still tryna find a way to reduce the image sizes to 200kb without losing quality (a single .png render of any of my models can be up to 65mb) |

Thanks for ur response bro, sorry no works available right now. All works were saved in an external drive which is now damaged. Will start posting works as soon as I start again. About making ur projects smaller in size I think ur gona have to reduce ur vertex count and avoid using multires as much as possible. |
Re: Any Blender 3d Users Around? by Nobody: 11:23pm On May 26, 2012 |
I can't substitute multi-res for anything. I like my work looking as smooth as possible. Although I could reduce my render resolution (I render it with the maximum resolution (10000 x 10000)). Have you worked with cycles? |
Re: Any Blender 3d Users Around? by orbgoblin: 6:06pm On May 27, 2012 |
Lol! I know what u mean. I'm assuming u also use subsurfacing for ur models and that's a lot of vertices when combined with multi res! What u can do is try using a normal map. It gives d illusion of great details when d model is so simple with less poly count. U can use a normal map by creating the high resolution version of ur model! Add as much multires and subsurf levels as ur cpu can take then when ur model looks d way u like it, just bake d normal map on a lower poly version of the same model. Wish I could explain better but haven't been blendering for a while now so I've forgotten a lot. Just google how to bake normal maps, u'll love it! |

And sorry I don't know what u mean by cycles. Can u explain a little? I'm a little rusty with remembering diz things @ d moment. I only worked with NURBS curves and bezier |

Cycles is the new renderer. It's much more realistic than Blender Internal. And it comes with settings for effects like glass, ice, water. Just google it, or go to blenderguru.com for tutorials on cycles. |

Wow that's cool! Never heard of it before. I only know yafray. Thanks for the info, will have a look @ d cyckes renderer when I begin. Hope u've looked up something about baking normal maps though. It will help maintain ur topology and still give u a very detailed model with less vertices. |

demoreon: Someone is lost here...can you guys pls give me some header...been looking for blender 101 tipsIf ur just starting with blender, I suggest u learn about the interface first and get ur hands on the blender summer of documetation ebook which is free on d blender website. Its a tutorial on character modelling and animation and covers a lot of things required to know 3d. Its very easy to follow and surprisingly helpful. Only problem is it was written in 2006 and d blender interface has changed since then. But d concepts still remain the same. Joining online forums too helps a great deal. Good luck bro 1 Like |
