Mine should be when i was about 5 or 6 yrs old.Venue was a school field, during one of Rev. Uma Ukpai crusade.
I think the movie was "Pilgrims progress'.The white cloth, the white screen and ofcourse with the preacher on stand by doing all the talking(explaining) with microphone as the movie got no volume.
Good memories.

If this one counts as cinema then it means i've been to a cinema before where i watched those scary Mount Zion movies.

Mine was in February 2009 at the Ozone Cinemas.
The film was Underworld:Rise of the Lycans and this b!tch came in 10 minutes late and started asking me too many stupid questions.I was like,b!tch, this aint Nollywood junk-leave me the
phuck alone.
I had to relocate to the back where I met another girl that was addicted to the Underworld trilogy and dissected the film intelligently.
Nowadays,I just go because my girlfriend wants somebody to follow her.

Re: Your First Cinema Experience. by Nobody: 7:05pm On May 31, 2012
My first time in a cinema was when I was 9. My mum and I were in yankee and she took me to see Shrek and that was in 2001. I can't really remember the experience very much apart from the big screen and pop corn munching. First real thing for me was when I went to see Twilight: New Moon with a couple of friends in 2009 at Genesis Deluxe cinema @ The Palms, Lagos. The visuals and sound just blew me the eff away.

my first cinema experience was at silverbird galleria in Lagos... I went to watch ije: the journey starring omotola jalade and genvieve nnaji.. I wz really excited, sitting in that hall, munching my popcorn, giggling wit my cousin n fascinated that no matter the noise ppl were making,i cud still hear the conversations of the movie because it was loud... Then i started shivering (a normal reaction i have after sometime under an air conditioner, gosh,i hate cold) due to the ac but thank God i wz dressed in a pair of jeans, a top and a jacket, so i just zipped up my jacket... When the movie was over,i was beaming from ear to ear.. It was a wonderful experience especially with the wowws and ohs from the crowd..

First and only modern cinema experience (not counting my cinema experiences of the Early 90's) was @ Ozone Cinema in 2009.

Saw James Cameron's Avatar then. Everybody was like WOW @ the end and in my mind I was like shey all this hormone driven teenagers & blockheads no see sey na Sci-Fi version of Pocahontos be this? tongue

Nowadays, I just download BRrip or DVDrips of movies I like and watch them on my pc or DVD player. Prefer it this way cos I can multitask and exercise full control (pause, increase or lower volume, fast-forward & rewind etc) over the film I'm watching grin

1975 or 1976 Regent Cinema, Mission Rd, Benin City in the old Bendel, my senior cousin took myself and my brother to watch an Indian film, a few weeks later we watched a Bruce Lee film - I think it was Fist of Fury.(I was in primary school)

First cinema experience was at silverbird PH, I reluctantly agreed to follow my friend to see 2012 the movie. Because at that moment I saw it as pointless when I could watch the same movie from the comfort of my home.10 seconds after the movie began I was yelling WOW OMG WOW WOOOOW all through the movie it was something I'd never seen before, I kept on asking my friends why they hadn't convienced me to come previously.

I go to the Cinema often because i love movies. My first modern day big screen experience was in 2006 when i saw X-Men:The Last Stand. But my most exiting cinema experience was in 2010 at Multikino in Poznan,Poland. The film was step up 3d,men it was amazing in glorious 3d.Prior to that i saw avatar and i didn't like the 3d effect that much. Now i watch most of my movies at home,i have a 1080p 3d projector(Optoma HD33), 120" HD electric auto projector screen, 7.1 surround dts dolby sound system and a 3d blu ray player.I can say that my movie experience at home is very close to what i get in cinemas now.

Mine was about 6yrs back @ brown and brown center enugu when d cinema was first opened. Watched passion of d Christ. Had some kids dat wouldn't shut up. D experience was wow. Felt so real dat I could almost feel every pain and all in d movie even though I had seen d movie @ home. Was fun sha except for d kids. A cinema is not a place for babies.
I m not sure dat cinema still functions. Enugu folks were yet to see d light.

I have written about my first experience.

Just wanna add that for anyone who wants to be a filmmaker, always make out time to see movies at the cinemas. At LEAST twice a month. If you can afford going everyday, better. Helps give one the right mindset about how people are gonna see your movie.
Re: Your First Cinema Experience. by nwanioma(f): 11:17am On Jun 01, 2012
I don't remember the first movie i saw, but it was when silverbird had just opened! I said i must go to see a movie before i go back to school so i could make mouth and form Lagos babe back in the east! My elder brother took me after i had almost deafened the whole house with noise!

Re: Your First Cinema Experience. by garbigarba: 12:24am On Jun 02, 2012
My first was at silver bird prolly around 2005, the place was still in the construction phase,
Walking from the main entrance to the cinema floor with an friend and underage kid (nephew) towing right behind, wanted to give them a treat, we were to watch soul plane, the attendant kept complaining about the underage kid, that she couldn't sell tickets for him, that we should see another movie, but I was hell bent on seeing the movie, so I just blocked the ticketing ladies mouth with (can't remember the amount), not one of my proudest moments.
All in all I had a really nice time, tho I kept covering my little nephews eye at all the raunchy parts.
