WITH ALL THE 25% OF THE NIGERIA BUDGET THEY USE TO CHOP AS ALLOWANCES AND SALARY, THESE ROGUE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MEMBERS USE TO COLLECT BRIBE LIKE HUNGRY NIGERIAN POLICE OFFICERS.

Jagaba am so disappointed with you! While your people are dying by their hundreds inn Kaduna and environs due to the BH menace, you are here denying some bribe allegation. I wish you had given attention to what is happening in your state like you are doing to this bribery case.

Ogblikwe:

In as much as I would agree with with you of the unfortunate situation at the National Assembly; believe me, we are better off under a democracy (we can have our own unique democracy). Worse things happens under the Military you may not just be aware of, even where you are aware, you cannot voice out the way we are doing now. What is needed is we march our words with action (non-violent), just like what happened during the fuel subsidy removal demonstration across the country, then our so called leaders will know we can't just be taken for granted. Drop this thought of Military, they are no good, am sure you are old enough to have experienced them.
I agree with you. Nobody is happy with what is happening in Nigeria now but no matter how bad, democracy is far better than the military era.

What a silly comment. Is he responsible for what is happening in his State? Did you appoint him Chief of Police in Nigeria or even Head of Security?

Willzkid: Farouk, OYO 4 U...bear ur papa name- Lawan

i thought so myself, are the lower house members covered by the immunity clause? if not, then the sting operation version is Bull.sh!.t.

like we know already, otedola and Obj are friends and Jonathan can be one by proxy.

otedola bribes Farouk like every serious business man not to indict his company,
otedola pays the bribe and collects much evidence to protect himself from the devils in the house, in case farouk reneges.

few days later he calls his friend Jonathan and ask him how the evidence will be useful, Jonathan activates the cohesive security apparatchik to protect otedola and nail farouk.

this will end thus;

Jonathan will pursue farouk to the end, while in incarceration, Jonathan will leak to the media that farouk confessed that he removed a lot of companies from the list because they paid bribe, of course, his conviction will paint it as true.

Jonathan will order for a fresh investigation with a fresh committee/panel outside the house and the matter will die a natural death.

that way, ACN,CPC, SNG will be happy that one subsidy pawn has fallen while the bigger thief (otedola) walks.

i laugh at the sting operation version.

All that is required for a successful sting operation is to get the required evidence after which security agents move in to arrest everyone involved and secure evidence, that wasn't the case here.

the bribe has been paid long time ago but Jonathan needs to protect Otedola by painting him a whistle blower to escape prosecution.

gboss4sure: The people are tryina confuse dem mama and papa and not me. Otedola paid bribe and lawan accepted bribe as far as am concerned they both should be in jail now.
The alleged sum is a lot of money, so where did this money come from? Otedola's bank account or from the security agents?
If its from Odetola, how did he manage such a large sum within a short period of time in cash? If its the security agents, where did they get such amount of cash from and where was the money kept to be called into use within that short period of time?
When things like this happens, Nigerians should put their personal sentiment apart and ask some fundamental questions which may lead to many more revelation but they will be busy now chasing shadows and calling names and then few weeks later like many others before this, the story will be forgotten because there is another juicy scandal to talk about. And the wrought continues.

THERE ARE TWO QUICK ISSUES HERE:

1) First, the Bko Haram Bombing didn't just start last Sunday. The only new thing that started last Sunday was the Reprisals by the Christians. But all the while, the Tambuwal-led House of Representatives kept mute and never summoned the President since May 2011. Why Now?

2) Secondly, why would the House of Reps reject the Idea of Mr. President addressing a joint session of both Chambers of the NASS? Moreover, why must the encounter with the President in the National Assembly exclude the presence of his Security Chiefs and why in camera? Why would Nigerians and the World not watch the encounter, live?

In an attempt to address these two groups of questions, you would be immediately conditioned to suspect that the Members of the House of Representatives are capitalising on the last weekend's violent events in Kaduna and Yobe with a view to reaching a truse with Mr President on the already shared $620, 000 (of the $3 million Lawan Saga) bribe by the Dishonorable Members of the House of Reps. Moreso when the $10,000 found in Lawan's House most likely was his own cut for bringing-in the Bootie. A reason why Lawan can no longer produce the remaining balance of $610, 000 that they collected from Otedola.

The Leadership of the House of Reps and Members of that House can only refute what I have said here by calling Mr President to address a Joint Seesion of Senate and House of Reps in a televised setting. Nigerians and the entire World would like to see and hear. There is nothing to hide anymore regarding Boko Haram and Insecurity in Nigeria.

If the House of Reps truly wants Mr President to explain his inability to curb the menace of the Boko Haram or inability to arrest the known Massquerading-Sponsors of Boko Haram, then the President Jonathan should appear before the NASS in a Televised Session and ask Speaker Tambuwal why he (Speaker Tambuwal) bshould not be ARRESTED based on his suspicious movements and situational comments or silence that appear to be in defense of Boko Haram, particularly, his comments immediately after the Reprisals by the Christians in Kaduna State.

Mr. President should go a step further to ask the Dishonorable Members of the House to put hands in their pockets and bring-out the balance of $610,000 they had shared in bribe money collected from Otedola.

That's exactly what I would do on the floor of that Dishonorable House if I were Mr President.

I know he is not the head of security. But he still represents a people who are being slaughtered by the day by bh. As a representative in the house...what has been his contribution towards saving his people. The bribery case is far too trivial an issue compared to the lives being lost everyday.

Enough of the mish-marsh please. He was elected by the people, to represent them in the National Assembly. The Person elected by the people to handle Security of the People, believe it or not, is the President of Nigeria. The President is the one the people bestowed the power to run Security for them and their state.

Jagaba, abi wetin be im papa name no be your problem. Nor is he expected to wade in on the security issue in Kaduna or anywhere else Nigeria. He is a lawmaker . . . Law keeping and security is strictly in the hands of the Executive, and then the Judiciary.

For You, and for those of you who do not understand why the President is also being summoned, it is because, according to the Nigerian Constitution, He is the one in charge of the Police Force.

Please take time to read up on your Nation's constitution during Lunch time.
215. (1) There shall be -

(a) an Inspector-General of Police who, subject to section 216(2) of this Constitution shall be appointed by the President on the advice of the Nigeria Police Council from among serving members of the Nigeria Police Force;

(b) a Commissioner of Police for each state of the Federation who shall be appointed by the Police Service Commission.

(2) The Nigeria Police Force shall be under the command of the Inspector-General of Police and contingents of the Nigeria Police Force stationed in a state shall, subject to the authority of the Inspector-General of Police, be under the command of the Commissioner of Police of that state.

(3) The President or such other Minister of the Government of the Federation as he may authorise in that behalf may give to the Inspector-General of Police such lawful directions with respect to the maintenance and securing of public safety and public order as he may consider necessary, and the Inspector-General of Police shall comply with those direction or cause them to be compiled with.

(4) Subject to the provisions of this section, the Governor of a state or such Commissioner of the Government state as he may authorise in that behalf, may give to the Commissioner of Police of that state such lawful directions with respect to the maintenance and securing of public safety and public order within the state as he may consider necessary, and the Commissioner of Police shall comply with those directions or cause them to be complied with:

Provided that before carrying out any such directions under the foregoing provisions of this subsection the Commissioner of Police may request that the matter be referred to the President or such minister of the Government of the Federation as may be authorised in that behalf by the President for his directions.

(5) The question whether any, and if so what, directions have been given under this section shall not be inquired into in any court.

The President is in charge of Security in Nigeria so it makes ABSOLUTE sense to blame him when Security is as terrible as it is in Nigeria. Learn your Constitution at least!
