visionsen: When former President Olusegun Obasanjo lambasted the National Assembly a few weeks ago many people called him names some legislators had wanted to protest.The Corruption cases involving the so called Hon. members in Abuja recently has vindicated the elder statesman.
Today, we now know that Obasanjo might have known little more than many of us as he was allegedly privy to the shameful solicitation and collection of a bribe by someone who is ‘famous’ for anti- corruption posturing in the parliament. Even as we wait for the final pronouncements of investigating agencies, it is believed that the unfolding drama in the House of Representatives has exposed the selfish and unpatriotic character of the Nigeria political class and the decay in an institution constitutionally empowered to provide an anti-corruption check on democracy.

Who started the culture of sending Ghana-Must-Go bags to the national assembly? Was it not OBJ?

It's a pretty straightforward question we've been asked here if Faroukgate is a vindication of OBJ and his likening of the NASS to a den of thieves.

The issue isn't about whether or not they apprenticed under OBJ, or who the biggest thief of all is. I'm sure this thread would have been unnecessary had the yeye assemblymen ignored Baba's comments knowing what they know. But given their maniacal protests at his 'allegations', OBJ has definitely earned the right to kick them while they're on the ground.

I even consider them an extremely lucky bunch. Things could have been far more embarrassing. Imagine if OBJ had been 'ordered' to appear before them to substantiate his claims and he'd obediently heeded and, in the full glare of the media, had played his video...
