ABUJA — The House of Representatives, yesterday, insisted that President Goodluck Jonathan must honour the lower chamber’s invitation for the purpose of throwing light on the security situation in the country.

In a briefing, yesterday, Zakari Mohammed, said the House was constitutionally empowered to invite the President “after all, he had also invited us in the past.”

Zakari said contrary to claims in some quaters that the invitation was unconstitutional, the House acted within its powers.

He said: “The constitution gives the House the power to invite anybody if we are conducting any investigation, adding that the silence on the date the President should appear before the lawmakers was to allow President Jonathan choose a date that would be convenient to him.

They dont even know they haven't got such powers to summon the president. This is why OBJ told them to their face during their inauguration that he would not brook any nonsense from anyone of them.

Tambuwal, the speaker, or leader of opposition party wants to get into a shouting match with the president

Is this some sort of joke or what? Who do those thieving F.O.O.L.S at the Low House think they are. Never have I seen a serving President and C-in-C in any part of the world present himself or herself to the senate/legislators for any sort of public or private Hearing.

Thieving bastards.

This is a weakling of a president. They are telling Jonathan to back off any criminal investigation of Farouk or he will be impeached. But Jonathan wants to be president for as long as possible, so he is going to call EFCC, the SSS and the police to back off from further 'harrassment' of the honourable member.

Where you read this one from again? This summon has to do with security issue, and this includes the effectiveness of our forces, I hope. Why in the world are we pretending it is all part of some con?

Dis same house of representathieves invited OBJ to appear and explain he call dem robbers. Now they're inviting GEJ to tell dem who d boko haram are. What an insult. When they suppose to redeem their image from monumental fraud rocking d house. Yet they chase after shadow. Shame.
Re: Jonathan Must Come To NASS, Reps Insist by maclatunji: 4:40pm On Jun 22, 2012
Hahahahaha- Power resides with the people and the National Assembly is the constitutional representative of the people. They can summon anybody in Nigeria. See how people just post without any valid points raised. Farouk Lawan's case is separate from GEJ and in any case is being handled by the House through its institutional mechanisms. Already, the man has been suspended, which official in the Executive has GEJ suspended or sacked in view of very detailed allegations and evidence of corruption? If you cannot find any, let me point one out for you, the extra-budgetary spending on oil subsidy. Where did the money come from and how did this government spend it without appropriation by the National Assembly? GEJ has a lot of questions to answer and this is not the Presidential campaign debate that he manipulated to serve his purposes.

He has to answer questions because Nigerians are tired of stories and excuses!

U all talking about farouk's case seems to be dumb IMO. is the case not in the hands of the security agents headed by the retardeen? The house may not be totally clean but that doesnt mean they dont have a job to do. Farouk's case is ongoing however more and much more severe than farouk's case is the issue of Evil Boko.

Probably they want to test the efficacy of their boasting during last Fridays emergency session
They believe the presidency is behind Farouk Lawans woes
But, as usual, they will fail.
They will realise every other person is not as daft as Farouk Lawan

So, they want to test the efficacy of their boasting during the last Fridays emergency session in front of the very man whom they have handed off the Farouk Situation to, since he is in charge of security and enforcing the law in the Nation?

WOW . . . funny the word DAFT comes to mind after processing that reasoning there. lipsrsealed
