Hello people,
Please I need someone who have had the experience to advice me on this. How did you overcome it.

My baby is 11 weeks old, and eats about 2 Oz/ 60 ml per feed (which is quite small). Any attempt for her to consume more, she coughs and throws up heavily.

When she was below 5 weeks old, she consumed 4 Oz/ 120 ml per feed without issues of vomiting.

I have given her multivitamin (abidec), yet no improved feeding.
She is agile, happy and big for her age. No fever

I'm really worried about the vomiting.

Plz. assist

Since she is 'agile, happy and big' for her age like you said I'll say just let her be and follow her feeding pattern. I have a six months plus daughter that still struggles with 75mls while her twin bro finishes 250mls at a go but I can't force her to take more if not she will throw it up.
It might be growth spurts with time she will eat better.

It's her way of giving up the excess esp when there is no fever or she's not easily irritable or excessively crying....

She's big for her age that means she's adding weight....

Weight gain and wet diapers are the surest way of knowing if babies are getting enough.....

Just give her what she can consume n watch her weight gain... And the vomiting...
It should go with time

I do not think the advice from the physiotherapist is the best.

Waiting till a child is a year old is rather too long.

bone related injuries heal very quickly in babies, so the earlier the problem is diagnosed/rectified, the better.

if there is pain/discomfort/swelling, it might actually be a fracture (tiny bone fractures occur in babies) and he might need a leg x-ray to determine the nature of the fracture and if he needs a cast.

i think you should take your baby immediately to a doctor/paediatrician, who would most likely recommend an x-ray. the x-ray is then reviewed by a radiologist before it is then referred back to the doctor or orthopaedist. consultation with a physiotherapist is further down the chain of events and may not even be required at all.

its possible your chain is in pain and might require pain relief but then again, that will be determined by the doctor.

Dear Sabi Mamas,

I have called a physio and he asked me to come with my baby so he can see the leg. Though he mentioned that they don't really do much until a baby is around a year old.

Will give updates as we go.

Thank you all.

Mama let me just tell you what worked for me even though it's unconventional.

My daughter's immunisation site always come back swollen. She is an active baby, so once she is in pain you will know. That area will hurt so much, even to wear diaper will be a problem. She won't stand firmly or stretch. In our case the 2 legs are always affected.

What we did.
Hot water massage. Hot like the newborn hot water massage. She will cry, yes, but after a while, it will all be over. Secondly. I massaged. Yes,unconventional but I did. Mentolatum mixed with ori. Yes she will cry o, but after some days of applying pressure there, she will start using her legs.

I was team no massage as recommended . 0ur 6weeks swelling lingered for so long, I couldn't do anything. When MIL came and saw it, she cried that day thinking my baby was already paralysed ( one of my SIL is disabled because of an injection gone wrong before her 1yr birthday) So I understood her fear.
She started the hot water massage and in 2 days, my baby's swelling came down and she started to use both legs.
So I did same for her 10 weeks and 14weeks. Even now, the koko for 14weeks injection is still there in one leg, but the swelling has gone and she is actively stretching both legs.

Like I said
This is unconventional but this is equally what worked for me.

Mama is doing that for pleasure. That's her own way of contributing in giving you assistance.

If she wont take offence, wake up earlier than she normally does and give him a bath but I'm quite sure she won't like it so just appreciate her efforts.

It could be an allergic reaction. How old is he and what does he feed on?
Better still, check with a pead.

God's blessings upon your family in the new country.
