ABEOKUTA – Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police said, Tuesday, that it had uncovered a shrine belonging to ritualists and fraudsters in Iganke, a border town between Ogun and Lagos states.

The shrine, which is located in a forest on the expressway of the border town, was filled with charms and other scary elements.

At a briefing at the scene, state Police Commissioner, Mr. Ikemefunna Okoye, said two people had been arrested over the incident.

He said the arrest of two members of the group in abetting led to the discovery of the shrine. According to him, ‘’One of them tried to dupe someone of money, but through intelligence gathering, we got to hear about it.

“We immediately swung into action and were able to arrest two of the members of the syndicate who brought us to the shrine where they do all sought of things such rituals and frauds. Our investigation department is working on it and will soon complete it.”

. .. because unlike Okija shrine, there are no human skulls and skeletons or caskets. This one uses animals for its rituals, not humans.

MEN of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended a 43-year-old man, Oladipupo Olalekan, who specialises in selling human parts to ritualists for money making rituals. The suspect was paraded along some suspects by the Ogun State Police Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, Ogun State recently.

The newly appointed Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Musa Daura, told Crime & Security that the suspect was arrested following a tip off by a vigilant citizen who saw the suspect with human skulls.

“On the 18 January, 2010, at about 11.50 p.m., one Mustapha Ibrahim of Agura Road, Sabo, Sagamu, reported at Sagamu Police Station that he received information from one man called Taiwo that a man was caught with a human head which he excavated at Atoyo burial ground, Agura area of Sagamu. The suspect was arrested and taken to Sagamu police station. The suspect accused one Ifatunji Shoyeba as one of the receivers of human parts.”

Police sources informed Crime & Security that there has been upsurge in cases of people dealing in human parts. “You see, there has been an increase in cases of people invading burial grounds to excavate human parts for money making rituals. In fact, we record cases of people caught with human parts on weekly basis.”

A police source lamented that some of the suspects caught didn’t even see being caught with human parts excavated from burial grounds as a crime. Crime & Security in an interview with the suspect, Oladipupo Olalekan stated that he decided to be visiting burial grounds based on the agreement he had with the buyers that they would be paying him handsomely for supplying human parts.

“My name is Oladipupo Olalekan. I am 43 years old. I am from Ikenne in Ogun State. I relocated to Sagamu when things became very tough for me. I get human parts from various burial grounds in Sagamu and the second suspect, one Ifatunji Shoyesa is one of my buyers,” he said.

On the mode of operation, the suspect told Crime & Security that “it is not an easy thing. I normally perform some rituals to appease the spirits of the dead before going out in the night. It is important and compulsory to perform the rituals so as not to incur the wrath of the dead. I usually invade the place (burial ground) to get human parts. We don’t do it during the day because people will challenge us. At times, I meet other people doing one or two things there.”

“You see, some big men always visit the place (burial ground) in the night to perform one ritual or the other. Some may be doing the ritual at the place for money or to get political power.

On how he was caught by the police, he said: “On that fateful day, I had already concluded my assignment at the burial ground and I was on my way home when a man accosted me and asked me to open the bag I was carrying. I was caught and the police was invited.”

On why he decided to be disturbing the dead he said: “Things were very tough for me financially. I discussed with some herbalists and they said I should be supplying human parts. A skull goes for N4,000 (four thousand naira) on the average. I made about N16,000 (sixteen thousand naira) in a month selling human parts.”

However, a hot argument broke out between the suspects – the supplier and the buyer, the alleged receiver of the human parts, Ifatunji Shoyeba, denied ever doing any business with the accused (Oladipupo Olalekan).

He agreed that he had met Oladipupo before, but, denied ever getting into any agreement with him. Speaking on the matter, the commissioner of police, Mr. Daura, said the two suspects would soon appear in court.

In another development, a team of police detectives attached to the anti-human trafficking section of Ogun State police command has arrested members of a three-man-child trafficking syndicate operating in the state.

The police sources at the police command told Crime and Security that the suspects –Akpo Mathew, Akpo Amido and Ayena Shaibu were arrested by detectives on patrol on Abeokuta/Imeko Road.

Crime and Security learnt that six victims Saheed Ajala, Erik Akpo, Mayo Benueno, Kowe Silvan Akpo Martins and Eche Akpo were rescued from the suspects. The victims were from Benin Republic.

The reason why numerous kidnap cases are not reported in lagos and it's environs is because the kidnappers are not the type that ask for ransome rather they use their victims for rituals.

Oro Festivals and Money Rituals as described below

Stop Oro festival, Ikorodu residents cry
on SEPTEMBER 27, 2011 · in NEWS

Lagos – Residents of Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Tuesday called on the state government to stop the Oro festival in the area.

The residents in Lagos, said that the celebration hindered their movement and that it was a disincentive to the economy of the area.

The residents were reacting to the restriction of movement because of Oro celebration on Sept. 26 at Igbogbo, a town near Ikorodu.

A businesswoman, Mrs Olayemi Bamgbade, said that she had experienced the restrictions for 15 years.

“We urge the government to put a stop to this Oro tradition. If government does not cancel it, they should restrict the event to midnight.

“We residents are at the receiving end of this saga.”

She said that the tradition was a violation of the fundamental human right of the residents.

An accountant, Mr Tony Iruah, said that the tradition was frustrating his family.

“Whenever Oro Day comes, I, my children and wife are forced to stay at home.

“Schools and business activities in the area remain suspended and paralysed,” he said.

Mrs Iyabo Olofin, the proprietor of a hair salon in Ikorodu, said that the tradition had become a source of worry for the residents and that it was unfair for the government to allow it to go on.

She said that the continued observance of the tradition by its adherents gave the impression that the country was tilting towards barbarism.

“It is so sad that in spite of the level of civilisation globally, we, in Nigeria, still condone some archaic and barbaric tradition that ought to be extinct,” she said.

A clergyman, Mr Emmanuel Obasa, said that any religious or traditional festival that infringed on people’s freedom of movement was bad and unlawful.

He said that the beliefs of people in the country should not violate the laws of the land.

“The constitution should supersede every tradition or religious activity of any town,” he said.

A banker, Mr Tunde Amodu, who resides in Ikorodu, said that some miscreants took advantage of the celebration to harass and rob innocent people.

He said that there was usually “a sense of insecurity among the people“ anytime the Oro festival was to be celebrated.

“The fact that I am a man does not even exempt me from the restriction during the festival despite the long-held belief that men can see the masquerade.

“I had to rush home before 7 p.m. to avoid being harassed and assaulted,” he said.

NAN reports that the different towns that make up Ikorodu usually hold the Oro festival on different days.

Towns such as Igbogbo, Imota and Agbowa in Ikorodu are noted for celebrating the Oro festival. (NAN)

This is no news
Yoruba have been kidnapping and killing themselves for ritual purposes since their creation. That is why you have the word Gbomogbomo
Do you know why Yorubas have tribal marks? It is to prevent an Ekiti man from kidnapping an Ijebu man and vice versa and using him for human rituals. Now they kidnap from the diferent intra-ethnic groups. Have you not heard that their Obas eat human flesh? Do you know the origin and significance of the Oro festival?

If you want to stay safe, stay away from yoruba villages and semi-urban areas. They are brimming with ritualistic kidnappers
