Police get new salary package


The Federal Government has approved a new salary structure for the police.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sir Mike Okiro revealed this on Wednesday in Lagos while conducting an on the spot assessment of collapsed and dilapidated barracks at the Elere, Agege and Mopol 22 police barracks.

He revealed that President Umaru Yar’Adua was concerned about police welfare and had therefore approved a new salary structure and welfare packages, which details he promised, would follow later.

According to him, Yar’Adua’s administration was seriously interested in the welfare package of the police and had therefore approved most of the recommendations made by him towards police welfare.
Okiro, who decried the extent of damage at both barracks appealed to the men and officers still living in the quarters to immediately vacate the apartments to avoid loss of lives and properties.
His words: “Your lives are precious to me. When we say vacate, do it immediately. Don’t stay a minute longer.”

Okiro promised that he was going to meet and discuss with the presidency over relocating them to Dodan Barracks.
While advising the affected policemen to move their families out, he added that policemen like most civil servants are entitled to about N5 million from the National Housing Fund. He promised to see how policemen can access the fund for building purpose, since it had become obvious that policemen can’t build houses without assistance from the government.

The IGP further appealed to well meaning members of the public to accommodate policemen whose blocks are on the brink of collapse. He said their stay wouldn’t be more than six months, which is approximately the length of time needed for renovation of the barracks.
He insisted that police problems should not be left to the government alone, but should be collective efforts since police protect the lives and properties of everybody.
Okiro, who said he sees nothing wrong with British police coming to reform the Nigeria police, added that it was natural for a child to go to his parents for advice.

“The British government were our colonial master. The Nigeria police was formed by them. So one should expect that if it want advice, one has to go to the parents. There’s nothing the Nigeria police is going through that the British police had not gone through.
The British police was also reformed by a committee,” said Okiro.
Speaking on the violence that had characterized most of the local government elections, Okiro revealed that he would soon read the riot act to politicians, explaining to them, the consequences of engaging in violence.

The police top boss, who said he would not disclose the priority of the police until the budget slated for police, materialized in cash, added that anti-terrorism policemen were already in training. “They are going to be responding to terrorism and threat to security. In cases where robbery is escalating, they would be sent to such states.
Okiro later re-commissioned the newly renovated ultra-modern conference hall of the state headquarters and named it, “the Mohammed Abubakar Conference hall.

HOUSE of Representatives on Wednesday expressed its resolve to probe the Ministry of Defence over the contracts awarded 17 years ago for the permanent site of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) which started at N400 million but now jacked up to N26 billion.


The House, according to informed sources, was said to have summoned the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, ministry officials, the contractors and the consultants to appear before its committee on defence today.


Officials of the ministry and others were said to have appeared before the committee on Wednesday but failed to bring the documents relating to the contracts first started in 1990 as ordered, with the director, Joint Service Department, Mrs. A.O. Okpara, who represented the minister said to have claimed that the documents were in transit.


Also, the committee was said to be set to investigate the alleged shoddy manner in which consultants and project managers were appointed for the construction of the permanent site of the National War College after the contracts had been approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Okiro has initiated new salary package for the Nigerian police; Ehindero (aka business police man) on the other hand used the salary package to build personal houses all around the country during his time as the IG.

FYI: It has been confirmed that Ehindero is frightened and not comfortable to return back home for good at this time. He feels that things are currently very hot and unstable at home.
Moreover, he's afraid to answer difficult questions (eg why all the impossible are now possible with Okiro as the IG, what truly happened to the police uniform fund and many more). Therefore, he continues to use fake UN project as an excuse to buy time.
Correction:
He wasn't cleared, in fact there were tons of other corruption allegations that were about to erupt, but he escaped (got his passport) because he agreed to give up the stolen Abuja home (IG official house). It was also confirmed that he  personally begged Okiro not to get EFCC involved during the investigation of one of his corruption allegations.

Message for him: You can run away from everybody, but you can't run away from yourself.
As long as Okiro continues to perform effectively and efficiently, Ehindero will not be in peace.
The same way the Siemens bribe scandal erupt, tons of Ehindero's shady businesses are waiting for him at home to burst at any time.

Do not deceive yourself, Ehindero is far from being disculpated. There are tons of corruption allegations waiting for him at home. Of course, he will be allowed to return and settle before he's captured like a black bush rat.

Okiro on the other hand is not making things easy for this jellyfish (Ehindero); Ehindero's problem multiplies whenever Okiro does his duties effectively and efficiently.
And this is also the major reason why Ehindero's family are very apprehensive when they hear that name "OKIRO"

I've never defended IBB, I only support him.

I've expressed several times that the man is not perfect just like you and I.
