edicolove: NL. The theatre of ignorance. Do you know how many committees the US government sets up weekly to do different stuff? All governments in the world are run by committees. Its not perculiar to Nigeria or GEJ. But, of course, haters and bigots will always have erections once its about GEJ. Lol Ummm. . . . it actually doesnt work like that here, but its ok to try to spill lies in order to gather points. Besides, is the U.S 1/10000000000000000 as corrupt as Nigeria? |

at the end of this committee, there will still be others to confirm their findings. jonathan nothing about human managements rather he is a specialist in the management of animals so most of his actions are meant for animals and because we are playing the role of animals in his life, he is bound to be treating us like animals. |

@ pataki, thanks for posting the link to the number of committees set up by this administration in one year. I agree with you that most of those committees are unnecessary. I don't see any reason why the govt should set up a committee for award of scholarships to post graduate students, removing unqualified persons from school, and modalities for university lecturers from having a minim qualification of PHD. I also maintain that both the rationalization committee and the blocking of leakages committee could be fused into one. However, to say that the other committees have not yielded any dividends will be a wrong reading of facts. The truth is that the present govt is interested in transformation. It is this transformation agenda that is driving these reforms. And if you want to achieve genuine reforms, you can't engage the same hands that are currently making things not to work. You must engage people from the private sector, technocrats in various fields, retired public servants who will bring their wealth of experience to bear and independent minded statesmen. That is where the committees come in. Jonathan is a human being so he can't be everywhere at the same time. He can't also entrust such sensitive assignments in the hands of present public officials, who have interest to protect. And somehow, it's working. The committee on ports did a fantastic job by sanitizing the ports. They hve reduced the number of agencies operating in the ports from 17 to 6 . Thereby easing operations at the ports. They hve also ensured that the ports begin 24 hours operations and liaised with the Lagos state Govt to get rid of the trucks that congest the roads leading to the ports. The Oronsanye led committee did a wonderful job to streamline and rationalize agencies in Nigeria. The recommendation that we should have only 35 agencies and parastatals in Nigeria is indeed a welcome development given our history of wastages and leakages due to the duplicity of MDA's. There cannot be automatic implementation of this report as most people think on this forum. The MDA's are a product of the enactment of the National Assembly. They all have laws establishing them so the National Assembly will need to repeal such establishment laws accordingly. The pension fund task force was what blew the lid on the corruption in the police pensions. With it came the massive discovery of over 125 billion scandal. And those indicted are already in court. The committee on oil transperancy led by RIBADU is yielding results and reducing wastages. The committee on airport upgrading is working in liaison with the minister of Aviation to overhaul our airports. It's evident for all to see. In Abuja, the entire domestic wing has been closed for massive reconstruction. Same for Enugu airports. Similar works are ongoing in Benin, Kano. Etc let's learn to criticize constructively with facts. |

With this members in the committee, I don't think their will be bribery to doctor the report. See member. “Other members of the new committee are: Dr. Abraham Nwankwo (DG DMO), Mr. Bernard Otti (GED Finance & Accounts, NNPC), Mrs. Oyinye Ahuchogu (CBN), Mrs. Sola David-Borha (MD Stanbic/IBTC, representing the Banking Community), Mr. Mike Osatuyi (National Secretary, IPMAN), Mr. Obafemi Olawore, Mr. Jonah Otunla (Accountant-General of the Federation), Mr. Bright Okogwu (DG, Budget Office), Mr. Reginald Stanley (Executive Secretary, PPPRA), Mrs. Aisha Waziri-Umar and Mr. Jalal Arabi. |

Stallion77: if you were in President Goodluck's shoe, what would you do? Elaborate with details and lets see how gud u would fare as a leader of this great nation.Prosecute those indicted already with sincerity and get a commission rolling with 6-months mandate to further clean sweep all those connected to the huge economic sabotage. I am sure most Nigerians would not be shouting 'ole' with this new committees if someone was already put to jail and the top management of the companies that comitted economic crimes against Nigeria and Nigeria are now cooling off in prisons with assests frozen and proceed from subsidy retrieved! Mind you, when a commission's paper is adopted by GEJ's government, it can be used by any subsequent government to jail whoever is indicted! |

Omo_Tier1:you're just restating what the govt is doing. Those indicted at the pension scam probe have been arraigned in court. They are already facing criminal charges for siphoning 126 billion pension funds. It's as a result of the bold step by Jonathan to institute a task force for pensions. The Fg has reaffirmed its resolve to prosecute those indicted in the AIG PROBE hence the need to do a proper review. Secondly, another mistake people make is to assume that those indicted will be sent directly to jail. It's not so. The law must take its full course and the process of litigation is usually very lengthy. Besides, the culprits usually have the resources to engage the best lawyers in the land to defend their case. When the defence team secures bail for the accused perspn's, people assume that the case has ended as it fades away from public consciousness. It takes special commitment to follow up those proceedings to its logical conclusion. Much as we admit that our judicial process is slow, but the technicalities of the law could be exploited by the defence team to enlongate a case to their advantage. Even in more advanced countries, this is the case. We would recall that our own Mutallab was just convicted this year in US almost 2 yrs after he tried to bomb the US plane. |
