First tell me your own definition of 'nigerian movie'...maybe we can start from there.

I just had to say it cos you claimed in one of your post that it is a nigerian movie but not a Nollywood movie. So the post is to draw your attention to your own statement and not to affirm my stance that 'full of a Red sun 'is a Nollywood movie. I already said I'm done with that topic. whether na kenyawood or chollywood....*none of my biz* the argument is infact silly.
But note that I already said you should gimme your own definition of 'nigerian' smiley
I must admit that your posts on nl are always responsibly made up and worth replying wink

Lol....most times when I visit nl, its on my laptop. So I just continue to type and type without realising that I have gone a long way.

Ok this is how I see it and differentiate it. All parties involved in this film are not 'Nollywood' so thereforing it isn't a Nollywood film. I did mention I didn't care what the producer calls it but the closest I will go is to label it as a Nigerian movie - not Nollywood.
Likewise the film 'Anchor Baby' I would call that Nigerian - not Nollywood - some might call it Canadian.

Even the title 'Full of a Red (Boy Pikin) Son' includes the word HALF... so na haf, haf film not Nollywood. But I must ask you how can there be American films and Hollywood films but there can't be Nigerian films and Nollywood films? I made a short Nigerian film and it definitely isn't Nollywood so why not?

PS - You don't have to apologise to anyone for writing long/ish posts. If they dey vex to debate send them to my Village.
PSSSssss - Bro, why are you awake and posting at this hour? Is it bekos NollywoodLove is toasting you? Dayum, she just might live on a street called eerrrrmmmm Nollywood lol.

@the rest, I haven't watched them and I will not cos they are not Nollywood movies but hustler movies. Why? Cos they didn't premiere at the cinemas, so I can't regard them as a movie. If you check my former posts, you Will understand my point. I don't even spend my money on them.
Such movies are not included in any awards (aama etc) cos they are not recognized. So I hope you know the difference now

Sharon Stone of Abuja was acted by your beloved Genevieve (is it still a Hustler movie?)

The main fact is that I saw both Indian and Chinese movie grow from the 70's to date, but with your beloved Nollywood stayed stagnant, One of the Nigerian Actress starring in the above movie was complaining about the amount of time, 5 months on the set of the movie! When you have Will Smith moving to New Zealand or Australia to stay with his wife (Jada) who spent 8 month down under shoot one of the Matrix trilogy. I once saw a Nollywood movie that had the same story line as one of Tyler Perry's movie, its bad enough they copied the storyline but Saheed Balogun made Shane Moore look like Denzel Washington.

Speedyboi: ........... movie fails, you might not even get your complete money back talkless of profit. Film business is quite complicated.*ah! Sorry, I don turn to an advice giver instead of posting, sorry*
Are you an investor yourself? undecided
Speedyboi: Why?
Reasons:
1. Hollywood: cos I can't sit my @ss for complete two hours to watch a repackaged version of a movie I watched 2 weeks ago...and to even think the movies don't always make sense and very predictable, I must say. I can't imagine myself leaving the cinema and start questioning the main point I grabbed from the movie I just watched.
Among what pisses me off the most is when they start chasing one criminal(the lead character) and they keep bashing the cars on the road. Abegi, if that's how police bash people's car in the name of chasing criminal, no one will own a car again.
Another thing is when they want to fight the notorious guy(which we all know they will not succeed), they keep coming one after the other. I'm always like, can't they just rush the guy at once? Mtcheew. No matter how hard they try, Hollywood movies don't move me with their suspense anymore cos I can tell you how it will later turn out to be. Spartacus is the most ridiculous of the recent TV series, with too many blood splashing everywhere like humans have blood bank in their inner skin/ or are their organs made of blood? Lols(that's just among many other unrealisms the movie entails) . Titanic is an exception anyway, it was very realistic and less predictable.
Nollywood: lols, I can't sit my @ss for 2 hours or more to watch ridiculous productions with bad execution of great stories. But just as you've said, I just have to shine my eyes. Cos though I don't watch movies, I can't deny that I got to watch Figurine, Phone swap, mirror boy, ije:the journey and I watched last flight to abuja this week. I was impressed with the movies, so as time goes on, I might get to stick to the nollywood movies; cos I prefer their own stories(the good ones) to Hollywood.
Bollywood: the movies are okay, but I don't understand the language, I hate focusing on subtitles when watching a movie ;so I don't watch.
China:
lmao, movies of jetli jumping from a 10-storey building and landing on his finger grin....save my eyes from harassment abeg.
South african movie: in their movies, blacks are always the house helpers and other ridiculous roles while whites are doing the elites roles. I can't bear to watch such in an african movie.
Ghana: hmmm...maybe when I want to watch porn, I will start watchingtongue. Some movies are exceptions anyway.
Kenya, Congo etc..: there is no good marketing strategy, so I don't even get to see them. I don't know what their movies look like. But I heard they also make good stories.

Lol, I like the words 'hustler movies'. Aptly put for 98% of nollywood movies grin. How Omotola could have brought herself down to act in Rihanna and Beyonce, it must really be a case of hustling. Lol. As much as I pity them, I really can't bring myself to defend nollywood grin. You people in their defense, are really trying. grin

Anyway can't wait for this movie. I'm super excited!

Lol, you forgot to mention that the police/rescue/help come late, after the actor might have finished dealing with the bad guys.

On the other hand action films are not meant to be that deep and realistic. The gun slinging, explosions, car bashing and other stunts are what we enjoy.

@ignatio, lol...actually.....most movies are not realistic....what I'm just trying to point out is when guys point to nollywood in terms of unrealism abandoning other movie industry with loads of it; and I noticed that it is the 'complex' problem that's causing it. I've always known nigerians not to be proud of what is theirs. Lol, the irony of everything is what amazes me; nigerians ridicule the industry but other countries appreciate it. That's why me sef decided to be proud of them. it doesn't matter whether I watch their movies, but one thing is certain; I will continue to hype Nollywood where ever I go and I will never say any ridiculous statement about it...even if I notice errors.

@Omar, and it is one nigerian that posted that on youtube o (abi na u sef?). Nigerians will never seize to disgrace themselves in public.

Like I said earlier.....I don't watch movies. Whether na Nollystick ooo abi na hollyghost abi chollyiron ........
My name is just for patriotism

But I watched few novel movies like Romeo and Juliet, Harry potter and a few others ....bt they bored me big time! Especially Harry potter(which is dragged unnecessary; I stopped at part 2).
Just my opinion. I've not really seen any movie from any industry that wowed me yet anyway. I always notice errors, so I'd rather not watch 'em.

You're a tough nut to crack. Wanna watch some porn instead? I'd recommend really old stuff like 70's porn when people still sported their 'National forestry' as down-yonder bush!!

Another good movie to look out for! Heroes and Zeros premieres on Friday 31st August 2012 at the Silverbird Galleria.

“Heroes and Zeros” directed by Niji Akanni an award winning Nigerian film writer/director known for some of his famous works including Dangerous Twins, Playing Games and Narrow Path. The movie stars some of the biggest names in the African film industry including Nadia Buari, Olu Jacobs, Norbert Young, Tina Mba, Gabriel Afolayan, Akin Lewis and Bimbo Manuel.

The Official Movie Synopsis
The movie Heroes and Zeros tell the story of the destructive pursuance of Tonia (Nadia Buari) by Amos Fele (Bimbo Manuel). Amos was a wealthy director in the Nigerian film industry, now he lives in a dilapidated flat, doing occasional low paying TV commercials for nameless products. He’s a daily comic relief on the local soccer practice pitch – because he is 45 years old – and he nurses a new, insane dream of making it into the dollar-soaked world of international soccer. His unhappy marriage to Tinuke (Tina Mba), a junior banker, is unfortunately crumbling, especially after the death of their only child.

A boost to his sagging spirit comes when a big budget French-Nigerian film company appoints him as director. Shortly after, he is a celebrated genius by the press and top actors and producers begin to call him up for projects. To his wife’s distress, Amos re-establishes his wane reputation as a womanizer and becomes obsessed with Tonia, a beautiful actress of the Nigerian-French film project. Ignoring repeated warnings by his best friend Nnamdi (Norbert Young), a psychology professor, Amos pursues his obsession with Tonia to his tragic end.

What will happen next?

Another one I am looking forward to is Lions of 76 directed by Izu Ojukwu. It is still being shot so I don't know when it releases but I'm so looking forward to it. The movie website has no info besides "coming soon" and the pics attached.
The movie is set around the 1976 Nigerian coup, and it features Ramsey Nouah, Chidi Mokeme, and Rita Dominic. Ramsey Nouah and Chidi Mokeme both play army officers in the movie.

I just bumped into this. The trailer for Lions of '76
A teaser of the highly anticipated movie, Lions of ’76 has been released. Lions of ’76 was shot on celluloid, and it was helmed by ward winning director, Izu Ojukwu. The movie has an impressive cast, which includes Ramsey Nouah, Rita Dominic, Chidi Mokeme, and Ibinabo Fiberisima.

Also featured in the movie are Memry Savanhu, Adonijah Owiriwa, Daniel K Daniel, Nelly Ekwereogu, and Shuaibu Ebenehi Adams. Although a synopsis is yet to be released, it is known that it explores the experience of the young pregnant wife of a soldier accused of involvement in the 1976 military coup.

WOW! Very impressive trailer.

Costuming on point, location & sceneries looked like it was really in the 70's, the sombre background sound was good too kiss

Even the vehicles and interior decor of the offices, houses, jail etc were reminiscent of the period in which the film was set.

. . .and that scene were soldiers were chasing Ramsey Noah and he was meandering his way through the crowd in the carnival ground was very well done. Good use of extras there.

Still, I can't help but feel the trailer gave too much away. Looking forward to the movie eagerly sha

SMH

Genevieve Nnaji's small part in the big screen adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel “Half of a Yellow Sun” has been cut out from the finished film. It wasn't just Genevieve's scenes that were cut from the movie, a few other characters from the book didn't appear in the movie. Sources in the know say the producers may have cut Genevieve from the movie because her character wasn't important to the story and was dragging the storyline unnecessarily. Other characters didn't appear because there was not much time to tell everyone's story. Genny may appear in a scene or two but it will be very insignificant. Genevieve played the role of Ms Adebayo, a professor who develops a flirtatious relationship with her colleague Mr Odenigbo, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Genevieve might not even know she's been cut from the movie.

I can't believe that Biyi Bandele will allow this. How can the role be unimportant, unless the script writer did a bad job. I hope this is one big joke!
