Hope he also had a CXR? The results will really help in diagnosing, just be calm though |

The results are out and he was found to have pneumonia and a rupture of a blood vessel. Treatment has commenced and the blood has ceased to come out. Thank you all for your care. God bless. |

Hi 66 year old guy scared as coughed up red blood this morning about half teaspoon with phlegm History I have barratts oesophagus/ slight reflux controlled by one tablet of nexium per day Last year I got into habit of violently clearing my throat when I get up by severe induced coughing to clear phlegm from odd cigarette day before Stupid really Had very small bit of blood on phlegm many months ago when doing this stupid clearing throat thing but nothing until again until this morning Obiviously worried I have throat or lung cancer but hoping this stupid habit I have got into has just burst a blood vessel somewhere Really need some help and advice on this please |

Smoking and barretts don't go together, you are trying to provoke a throat carcinoma, if you haven't already. See your ENT specialist promptly ! |
