Lord Nicvuitton: Hi Guys, I so much love this thread.. I'm fairly new and don't always comment, therefore I don't expect anybody 2 wanna see me 4 now cos I'm still unkown.. I love y'all Pls check out ma profile guys, help me grow on Nairaland too..u're lucky u know 5. I know none |
manny4life: I did not even know where to start from because of the information you put out there is blatantly false. For instance on the lease part, he won't be able to get a lease simply because he doesn't have a SSN to sign a new contract/lease contract. His option is to rent a room which is usually between $500-650 monthly everything included. There's nothing conservative about it, a girl friend of mine has rented a room out here in Springfield VA for $550. Go to Craigslist.com and get information, please STOP misinforming people.if there's sometin wrong wit some1 i tink its u. Did u even understand wot emeka wrote? U just wake up and start mentioning stuffs u own (which we cant even say 4sure u're telling de truth). Who asked u all those My! Some ppl's comprehension is awesome!! |
InvertedHammer: Now you are talking. Don't let people like ozo emeka talk you out of pursuing better life for yourself. Remember in life there are 2 categories of people: People who see a cup of water as half-empty and others that see it as half-full. Be optimistic.u r really inverted!! Its only ignorant ppl like tht guy asking u 4help (believing TV and ready to kill to travel abroad) and posting his e-mail address tht'l fall 4ur scam. I pity him! Go ahead and rip him off! Mayb after de experienc he'l be more enlightened (tho i strongly doubt he will) |
i wud'v loved to mention mine but de prob is am just about a month old here hence i dont really know much ppl. In fact i frankly dont know any1 lol |
manny4life: He was asking if it was realistic or not, if he wants Masters in Computer Security, then let him come. He has saved for tuition, fees, books, feeding, transportation... Everything else. At least if it doesn't work out, he earned his Masters and can get better job in Naija.so is it realistic to leave a well paid job (a job tht can fund his vacations to US every year if he wants and if he uses his money wisely) for de unrealities of a different place? Wot happens ever his masters, supposing, it doesnt turn out de way he expected? He returns to nigeria and his job will be waiting 4him, right I tinks he should be wiser dan just throw everytin in without an escape plan |
adeaugustus: Am sorry to bust your bubble but you don't know what you're saying. Cost of living is directly proportional to average income in all US cities.i guess if there's a bursting here its u thts bursted buddy. Wot am trying to imply is this, u can still live in less costly cities comfortably and the money u earn used more appropriately, dan wanting to feel among, like hey i live in new york! and most of ur earnings r gone in bills. Feel me now? |
Jeezy: Ok. So, somebody in my office wants to resign from a N300,000 per month job, go and study Computer Security in the US (saved up the tuition and rent- about $30,000), get a job after his Masters using his post-study work visa, HOPE that his employer will file for his work permit, and earn an estimated $50,000 a year (estimate based on current vacancies in that field).did i hear u say resign U wanna resign from a 300K job to go face unrealities in another man's land? Y doesnt tht ur friend rather use his savings to make little travels abroad, get a job there FIRST, den think of moving over? He should be careful else he'l lose both ways |
Originalsly: See misconception? This is the very thing this thread is trying to address. Hmmm...$10/hr...40hr/wk = $400/wk times 4 wks =$1600 /month. He doesn't see $400 deduction in taxes but brings out the calculator and carries on...1600 times ehmmm...160...hmmm....N256000 per month which is CATEGORICALLY way better than a graduate working for N80000 in Nigeria. He then transposes the standard of living such a salary would bring in Nigeria to the US and there fore concludes that such a person is wayyy better off....so off he goes to get a visa. The purpose of this thread to let people like him be informed that e.g New York City...it's $1200/month for a two bedroom apartment...if you are lucky. ..let's not mention other expenses. With this information...he would now be able to make a more informed decision and avoid unnecessary hardships. Now is this discouraging him from migrating?..that's what this thread is all about.lol u made me laugh pretty hard!! Exactly de same tots i had wen i read tht. How wud u expect him to include tax wen they dont pay tax in nigeria (i mean compared to de taxing system abroad)? Thts y they just cant comprehend de essence of this thread. My colleague, a british, works in nigeria but had since moved from britain to south africa. Ask me y? He's running away from 40% deductions in his salary just for tax! I hope tht guy tht wrote this removes his calculato again and start pressing so he can grap wot tht means |
Billyonaire: I do not particularly like the way that the OP's admonition has been misinterpreted.its one thing those with narrow mind set will never get, no matter how u preach it my brother. They all believe american streets r lined with dollars |
adeaugustus:its not a silly comparison. Take a guy tht works in an oil company. He makes more dan 1500 naira an hour. But tell me, wil he be very comfortabl to buy a bottl of water at tht rate? No! The OP was trying 2show u tht in some cities in US cost of living and surviving is so bloody high. Y cant u guys just c some things EXACTLY DE WAY IT IS ![]() |
*thinks* wots de essence of this thread..? It stil baffles me since wen i stumbled on it |
Emmadani: only about 12,000 seating capacity.2 small.Pls akpabio finish this olympic stadium let us host matches in aks, atleast a 35,000 all seater stadium not that baaad.who told u tht calabar stadium is 12,000 seated..? |
DankemzI: The stadium wont contain steaming Nigerians... Please who knows the seating capacity of U. J stadium Calabartwenty five thousand seated |
chiboy1928: Do you wonder while americans and the british come to nigeria to invest example they don't pay tax here in nigeria as much as they pay in they own country and they have a lot of chances compare to wen they are back home so u see dat the opportunity they have and they come to our country make a lot of money because they see the opportunity we don't see!!!thts one thing nigerians dont just know. De whites folks r running from their heavy tax system to nigeria, we nigerians r singing and crying out loud to go overseers. I wonder if they ever sit down with white guys and get a good gist of how life is like in some countries overseers. I doubt hey do |
god_of_music: I've been following this thread with a wise mind-set, I read what the OP has written and I got the cents, authomatically this man has contributed to my life and I am not gonna forget what I have learnt from him so far.point of correction pls. One, he de OP sure sounded insultive and has since corrected himself. Two, pls 'Third World Countries' is outta use. Now its DEVELOPED and DEVELOPING countries ok? |
temnob25: Gas is better. Cos it's economical, cleaner, but could be dangerous if not careful!there is absolutly no danger at all in using gas! Unless u're using old and leaking cylinders or cookers. Buy ur gas cooker. Get good regulators. Fix dem properly. Keep ur cylinder outside. Connect de hose inside. Simple. Where's de danger there? Kerosine stoves r rather filled wit so much danger u'l lose sleep just mentioning dem. Do u wanna talk about de poisonous soots it produces? Or de danger of kerosine explosion wen trying to 'blow it off'? De negative hygiene environment it'l surely turn ur kitchen into? I can go on and on (i dont wanna mention de time u'l have to wait 4de stove to warm up befor it now heats up wotever u put on it, by den, wotever was on a gas must'v been ready to be eaten, tho they were placed on de 'fire' at de same time. Try making water for garri on stove and gas. By de time ur water on stove boils, i must'v finished eating my garri meal i made on gas, probably done de dishes too) |
omar0001: Cooking gas is #146/litre (#3200 per 12.5kg). It is cleaner and more efficient anyday - supermgas@yahoo.com(de way some ppl just converts kgs to litres leaves me wondering wotever happened to our maths and physics in schools!! Or is it ART students who r doing these EXCHANGES Cos i can never believ a science student wil share in this conversions! How can some1 try to rhyme gas contents, on an enclosed cylinder, under high pressure, with kerosine, under probably atmospheric (normal) pressure inside a stove, and den try to equal dem and draw conclusions on amount of purchase etc It baffles me! Pls enough of these conversions!! It just doesnt WORK THT WAY! |

SWG 1: he is not, some type of stove with special wick is cheaper than gas. i ve used both and compared even some stoves to other stovesi was refering to him saying 12.5kg cooks 4 just a week in 11 ppl's household. Even if he runs a restaurant thts a lie! Well of cos unless he's using a gas burner tht leakes off de whole thing. But even with tht, it still wont be considered accurate (i hope am replying de right quote cos i said 'stop deceiving ppl' twice. Since u'v not quoted d exact one u're refering to here i av to assume which of dem) |
Amandaaa P: COOK WITH BIOFUEL smokeless fume less stoves or become a distributor.hmmm finally some1 is echoing my mind here at last! I said it earlier, how come no one has heard about cARBON CREDITS NETWORK (CCN) I dont know much about it either. I even started a thread about it (u can do a search on 'carbon credits network' here on nairaland and check tht thread out...i use biofuel too. But dont mention economical lol cos its not cheap tho its pure and clean energy (i even cook right der in my dinning! Yes! Its tht clean and safe...can some1 who knows better pls educate me more on how this CCN thing works? Cos a friend got me registered but i know absolutly nothing about it. Just love their products, de biofuel stoves and solar lanterns (tho am yet to get mine, de solar lanterns i mean. I have de stoves) |
Phema: Now Op, you are coming off as insulting and proud. Was enjoying your posts till you got all "boastful". Please stick to the crux of the topic.u're saying my mind here too, on de mark! I'v told him. I hope he adjusts, else he might make enemies of ppl like us tht appreciated wot he wrote |

*gives myself a hand shake. Funny me!*)
